Horse Racing Tips: Fran Berry’s Friday night flutters at Dundalk

Fran is very sweet on Tempest Star in the opener but he's also keeping Comfort Line onside in the 19:30.

Fran Berry’s Dundalk Tips

17:00 – Tempest Star (NAP)
17:30 – Senado Square
18:00 – Tango Flare
18:30 – Lady Pagasa
19:00 – Letiza
19:30 – Comfort Line (Next Best)
20:00 – Moyassr
20:30 – Slieve Binnian

17:00 – Tempest Star (NAP)

Flash The Cash is top rated on 84 and drops back to 5f but seems exposed now and always finds a couple too good. Bobbi Rossa ran really well last week but I’m happy to overlook this time. Ohmyviette and Bansha Belle should both come on for their debut runs while Aidan O’Brien has two in the race in Brightest Star and Smiling who should be better for their debut runs.

James Ryan is two clear in the apprentice championship and starts his night on Tempest Star who returns after a break. She’s already finished ahead of Flash The Cash and can give Ger Lyons another winner at Dundalk. He’s my nap tonight.

6/1
Tempest Star Win or Each Way

17:30 – Senado Square

A 5f handicap where the top rated runs off 62 with the bottom rated is off 41, so it’s going to be competitive. Former course winner Sam’s Xpress is a pace angle. The booking of Dylan Browne McMonagle is eye-catching. Iva Batt will likely get away quick and lead but can she hold on? Babyface has a chance if everything falls into place.

Andy Slattery has two runners in My Girl Sue and Senado Square. The latter can be competitive if breaking cleanly from stall 7. Now ridden by Ben Coen, he looks on a good mark and is the pick.

4/1
Senado Square Win or Each Way

18:00 – Tango Flare

Just nine go to post and all are familiar to us. Tango Flare is rated 100 and is a bit of an unknown quantity. His three wins have come when running around a bend and he gets that here. He makes his all-weather debut and should appreciate the better ground too given his Turf form. Harry’s Bar brings in strong course form and now reverts to handicaps with Ronan Whelan on board.

7/2
Tango Flare Win or Each Way

18:30 – Lady Pagasa

A one-mile maiden for three-year-olds and upwards and there’s only 1lb between five of those with ratings. A tough race to call but Touch The Sound may have the best form of those with a mark of 73. Empres Xj was well backed at Naas on debut, but I didn’t see enough to suggest she can win on her all-weather debut. By default, I’ve landed on Lady Pagasa who was a good second on her debut run in Ireland at Naas and has some solid all-weather form in the UK. She’s a little of an unknown quantity and is a tentative pick.

4/1
Lady Pagasa Win or Each Way

19:00 – Letiza

A one mile handicap where Black Storm goes straight into a handicap off 79 after his maiden win over 7f last time here. That looks a high enough mark to me, but he looks open to progression. Punk Poet should be a pace angle while Perfect Judgement got no run last time and can go closer if getting a smoother passage. However, Letiza brings in solid form and should be very competitive under Wayne Hassett now she has dropped in the weights.

4/1
Letiza Win or Each Way

19:30 – Comfort Line (Next Best)

This doesn’t look the strongest of races. It’s for riders who have only ridden 10 winners since March 18th to 28th October this year over jumps or on the Flat. Jack Kearney takes 5lb off Comfort Line who can be competitive in this grade. Feature This is talented but lacks power in a finish while the rest look much of a muchness.

10/3
Comfort Line Win or Each Way

20:00 – Moyassr

Jack Kearney takes 5lb off the top weight Moyassr who was second on Wednesday to Ferrari Desert with Cherry Pink back in third. Both step up to a mile now. I’ll take Moyassr to confirm the form. Moyassr can lead them home again if the two-day turnaround doesn’t take its toll.

Of the others, Ragtime Milly has the scope to win a race over the winter at this track.

9/4
Moyassr Win or Each Way

20:30 – Slieve Binnian

We end with a 1m 4f handicap and you can make a case for many of them. Polemon might prefer a stiffer test and is one to watch when stepped up in trip. Stablemate Church Mountain looks on a role while Tony Martin’s Pralognan is on my ‘watch for now’ list after catching me out at Naas last time. Slieve Binnian has won three wins from four starts at Dundalk and has done us a favour here before so I’ll stick with him.

11/8
Slieve Binnian Win or Each Way
