21:45 Big Mojo

Michael Appleby and connections won this last year with Big Evs and BIG MOJO looks tailor-made for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, too.

He’s drawn in stall three and that’s a big plus as there’s a short run to the line from the bend. The stats show you you want to be drawn low to get a handy position – although being drawn in stall one can be tricky – but runners from a low draw have a 22 per cent strike rate here.

Big Mojo won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood in August and then ran fourth to Cool Hoof Luke in a very strong Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes over 6f. He was unlucky last time when second to Asterius who reopposes snd it looks between them both again.

22:25 Immersive

The unbeaten IMMERSIVE looks to have the best CV on show in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Scottish Lassie is a big danger and has the highest ‘Beyer speed figure’ in the field and won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes last time out. That contest has produced four of the last six winners of this race.

However, Immersive is a Grade 1 winner over both one and two bends. Her trainer, Brad Cox, has said she looks like a three-year-old and that’s borne out on the track as she’s a wide-margin winner at both Saratoga and Keeneland. With her willingness to go forward, she should get a dream passage around here.

23:05 Lake Victoria

The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf sees Aidan O’Brien’s LAKE VICTORIA head the market, but I’m surprised she’s running to be honest. Connections may have more to lose than to gain, but she’s been a fantastic filly and has answered every question asked of her.

Winning the Moyglare Stud Stakes and Cheveley Park Stakes is by far and away the best form on show. While I wouldn’t like to lay her, I probably wouldn’t be steaming in at the price. The unknowns of travelling over and a busy end-of-season schedule could be factors, and I’ll be happy just to see her win without any financial involvement.

23:45 Chancer Mcpatrick (NAP)

The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile gives me a chance to make CHANCER MCPATRICK my nap of the night.

He’s unbeaten in three runs for Chad Brown and is a dual Grade 1 winner at Saratoga and Belmont. He’s improved his ‘Beyer speed figure’ on all three starts to date and his homework has been of a very high quality and consistency. He can keep on improving.

He’s drawn in stall 10, so can come with his customary late run. The one slight negative is that he’s yet to race around two bends, but that shouldn’t be any problem.

He’s the one to beat.

00:25 Al Qudra

We end Friday night with the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, and it looks like a wide-open contest.

Many of these ran in the Summer Stakes at Woodbine where Godolphin’s AL QUDRA finished second to Andrew Balding’s New Century. They were drawn six and seven that day but now face off from stalls four and 11 respectively, on a much tighter track.

Both would ideally go forward, but it’s going to be a lot more difficult for New Century to get to the front from box 11. Al Qudra has already beaten New Century at Ascot two starts ago, so he’s useful. The draw will make all the difference now and he’s got a massive chance of winning this.
