16:00 – Prince Achille
Although up 4lb for his Musselburgh success, Ayr Poet remains favourably treated on previous form and could go well, while C&D winner Urban Road is respected on his return from 199 days off, having run well fresh in the past.
The vote, however, goes to PRINCE ACHILLE, who is 3-6 over C&D and is 2lb lower than when third in a better race here in May.
16:30 – Mu Mu Land
Market support for either of the newcomers should be noted, especially Always Eternal, but a couple of these caught the eye on their respective debuts.
Run To My Side did well to finish as close as she did after missing the break at Leicester a fortnight ago, but preference is for MU MU LAND, who shaped as though this extra furlong would suit when a promising second at Beverley last month.
17:00 – Al Waseela
Brighton winner Mini Mac remains open to further improvement on nursery/AW debut, while Catterick winner Jachin would have a good chance if he maintains his progress on the AW.
The class-dropping Substitute is another for the shortlist, as is Sure And Stedfast, given his sire’s record here, but the choice is AL WASEELA, who seems to be progressing steadily and won in good style at Yarmouth a fortnight ago.
17:30 – Barleybrown
The unexposed Midnight’s Dream may still have more to offer, while Jez Bomb could also play a part if he reproduces his Wolverhampton form back here.
Little Ted could go well, given his consistent record at this venue, but BARLEYBROWN is taken to record his fifth win over C&D this year. He isn’t always the easiest, but Billy Loughnane is 2-2 aboard him.
18:00 – Arantes Nascimento
Barnaby is likely to put up a bold effort in his bid for a C&D hat trick, especially after having won in such good style a week ago, while the maiden King’s School is also high on the list, having had three of these behind when a close second over C&D last time.
However, a chance is taken with ARANTES NASCIMENTO, awarded the nursery on this card last year and suggested a return to form over 1m here last time. It seems as though the return to 7f might suit.
18:30 – My Cloud
Newcomer Tancredi has the pedigree, and it will be interesting to see what the market makes of him, but MY CLOUD should be too good for these rivals with the extra furlong expected to suit. The remaining three will likely have their work cut out in novice company.
19:00 – Kitaab (NAP)
C&D winner Indivar and the lightly raced Buzz Box make the shortlist, but the vote goes to KITAAB (nap), who won well over C&D at the start of the month and did well to go so close at Kempton a week later. Fiscal Policy, Moyola and Golden Duke are others to consider.
19:30 – Tickets
This looks particularly competitive, but TICKETS has found form back on the AW for his new yard, and he can prove he is still well-treated despite the penalty.
Ana Emaraaty hunted him up last week and is likely to be dangerous despite the slight query about the new trip, but Fircombe Hall, who might have just needed a sharpener behind My Boy Jack and Shark Two One last time out and now has Billy Loughnane up for the first time, maybe the main danger.
20:00 – Quercus
Although QUERCUS was only a narrow winner over C&D two weeks ago, he looked very comfortable on the surface, and fitting a hood seems helpful.
Gunnerside has a good deal in his favour off his current mark on his past AW form, and although he hasn’t been tested on sand for 17 months, he looks an obvious danger if still acting on the surface. Noble Captain and Muddy Lynn are others to consider.
