12:47 – Hostile Hotelier

Hostile Hotelier, a dual winner over hurdles, shaped well when runner-up on his chasing debut at Newcastle last season, leaving the impression that he needed a stiffer test than that two-miler provided. Hostile Hotelier, who is fit from a couple of spins over hurdles this autumn, tackles three miles on his return to chasing and is open to improvement in this sphere. The reapplication of a tongue tie, which was left off when a bit disappointing at Sedgefield last time, could also help.

13:17 – Country Mile

Country Mile, an £80,000 recruit from the pointing ranks, made a winning start for Dan Skelton in a Huntingdon bumper in April, looking like a useful prospect to score with plenty in hand despite showing signs of inexperience. He stands out on his hurdling debut. Walking On A Dream was runner-up on his three completed starts in Irish points and he could prove the main danger on his debut under Rules.

13:47 – Magical Arthur

Magical Arthur has responded well to the application of cheekpieces and built on a good second at Worcester when winning at Hexham earlier this month. That was only Magical Arthur’s third start for Jennie Candlish (previously with Philip Kirby) and his third at around three miles, so he remains unexposed as a stayer and capable of defying a 5 lb rise in the weights.

14:20 – Bathgate

Bathgate is still a maiden but has offered some encouragement this season, shaping as if in need of the run on his first start for 12 weeks at Kelso earlier this month. Bathgate was ultimately beaten a long way in fifth but he travelled well for much of the contest and was still close up at the second last, offering hope he can make a bigger impact with that run under his belt from a falling mark.

14:55 – Entity Of Substanz

Entity of Substanz caught the eye when sixth on his return at Warwick earlier this month, making steady headway without being able to land a blow over an inadequate trip. He boasts a good pedigree, being a half-brother to numerous winners, including a couple of useful sorts in Eva’s Oskar and Amore Alato, so he remains with potential heading into handicaps for his leading yard, with the return to this longer trip in his favour.

15:28 – Home Free

Home Free ran well when runner-up on his chasing debut at Hexham in May and he confirmed that promise when getting off the mark over fences at Uttoxeter earlier this month. Home Free, who was fitted with a tongue tie and had been given a breathing operation prior to his return, tended to jump to his right and lost a bit of momentum at the last, but he regained control on the run-in and won a shade cosily in the end. He went up only 4 lb for that win and appeals as one capable of racking up a sequence.

5/6
Home Free Win or Each Way

16:03 – Dalston Lad

Irish Point winner Dalston Lad is a half-brother to three winners, including the prolific and useful chaser Gone Platinum, and is in excellent hands with Dan Skelton so he is taken to make a winning start under Rules. Bespoke Tailor was a promising second on his bumper debut at Perth in April and can chase home the selection.
