13:10 – Will Carver

This is wide open, but the Nicky Henderson-trained WILL CARVER was unfortunate not to make it two from two over fences when thwarted by a late blunder at Uttoxeter in the summer. He looked the likeliest winner prior to that mistake, and gets the nod, with likely more to come after a breathing operation. Irish challengers Dutch Schultz and Marv Michael look capable of better, too, and rate as the chief threats, although a host of others are also in the mix, namely Lord of Thunder, Weveallbeencaught and Guard Your Dreams.

13:45 – Millforce

It took MILLFORCE six attempts to open his account in points, but he looked a good prospect making a winning start under Rules in a two and a half mile maiden hurdle at Bellewstown in August. He progressed further in defeat, when narrowly denied up in trip at Cork last time, his jumping is not so refined, but still displays bags of ability. He looks the most progressive sort in this line up and he represents a trainer that has a fantastic record at Cheltenham in October. Intense Approach is another who’s had his fair share of jumping issues, but arrives following a fine second in the Persian War, with Donnie Devito deserving respect.

14:20 – Pepe Le Moko

PEPE LE MOKO left his hurdles form behind when making an impressive winning start over fences at Warwick around this time last year, looking a natural switched to the larger obstacles, he also went on to score by 14 lengths at Kempton later in the season. He wasn’t in quite the same form when last seen, but remains with plenty of potential as a chaser, and promises to be suited by moving up in trip. The feeling is he’s still well handicapped and looks interesting on his return. Broadway Boy has a fine record her,  and is feared most, whilst Some Scope and Senior Chief are also much respected.

14:55 – Zain Nights

A wide-open first Pertemps qualifier of the season in which the suggestion is ZAIN NIGHTS, who doesn’t win by much, but made it three victories from four starts in handicaps over hurdles at Haydock when last seen in spring and Lucy Wadham’s progressive five-year-old is expected to pick up from where he left off. Gordon Elliott sends a couple over from Ireland, and The Wallpark may emerge as the main threat, with Como Park, Gowel Road and Supreme Gift all having plenty going for them, too.

7/2
Zain Nights Win or Each Way

15:30 – Bottler’secret

BOTTLER’SECRET was progressive on the Flat for Ciaran Murphy, reaching a useful level of form, and he made a smooth transition to hurdles since. He won his first two starts in this sphere in Grade 3 and Grade 2 company, and was far from disgraced as runner-up to Kargese in the Grade 1 Champion Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown, on his final start in May. That form sets the standard on his return to action, and with further progress on the cards, he’s fancied to make a winning return before moving back up in grade. Givemefive also made a bright start to his hurdling career and could be the main danger with a Flat run behind him.

1/1
Bottlersecret Win or Each Way

16:05 – Theatre Man

Cases can be made for each member of the sextet, but THEATRE MAN is the one with the most persuasive claims. He was a solid second to Ginny’s Destiny (twice placed in Grade 1 company since) in the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase in January, which is the best chase form on offer here, and he is well up to winning this prior, to likely having his sights raised further in the near future. Yeats Star made a smooth move to the larger obstacles at Listowel and is feared most ahead of fellow Irish raider Moon d’Orange and Hyland.

13/8
Theatre Man Win or Each Way

16:40 – The Dancing Tree

THE DANCING TREE created a good impression in a Limerick bumper at the start of the year, tanking through his race and having far too much speed in the latter stages for his rivals, so he is taken to defy a penalty on his return to action. Kim Bailey won this race last season, and his new recruit Seatoit rates an obvious danger, though Fortune de Mer and Jager Time, whose stable has a good record in this, showed promise in points and would also enter the reckoning if the betting vibes are strong.

3/1
The Dancing Tree Win or Each Way
