Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what an NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
14:38 Nottingham – Knicks (The Times)
Not a race to be dogmatic about, but the way that the mud-loving KNICKS appeared to come back to form at Ayr last time suggests that now could be the time to side with him. The unexposed Last Outlaw should be a big player in handling testing grounds, but his pedigree casts some doubt. Huddle Up and Faro De San Juan are others with claims.
15:13 Nottingham – Bay Breeze (Racing Post)
World Of Darcy (second choice) hasn’t looked back since being returned to slow turf, and he’s a strong candidate in his bid for a quick four-timer. Tilsworth Turf could have more to come under these conditions, and he can bounce back from a poor Windsor run, but another runner on a retrieval mission in BAY BREEZE gets the nod. Tim Easterby’s 5yo has slipped a long way down the weights this year, and he has shown enough to think he retains plenty of ability.
17:45 Wolverhampton – Prevail (attheraces.com)
Most of these have shown ability, but a few have something to prove. The longer trip and switch to the AW may suit Morrophore, while Nowhere again holds each-way claims if transferring her Polytrack form to Tapeta.
Magic Dream would be a major player if she recaptured the promise of her Newbury debut, but it may be worth taking a chance with PREVAIL. The form of her latest Kempton fifth is working out well, and the way she performed there suggested that this longer trip could help her.
18:15 Wolverhampton – Muscika (Racing Post)
Aces Wild is best known for his exploits over 5f, especially around here, but he won over 6f in Ireland as a 4yo and could be interesting back up in trip. Newyorkstateofmind and Phoenix Beach are respected despite their high draws, but the vote goes to the veteran MUSCIKA, who rarely runs a bad race around here and has dropped to a tempting mark.
