LOVE DYNASTY has an attractive pedigree and she looked something out of the ordinary when making a winning debut in heavy ground at Newmarket around a year ago. She has clearly had some sort of issue since, but she makes her return on similar ground and for an in-form yard. She’s still potentially smart and is a most intriguing runner. Sueno is a very appealing newcomer for the Gosdens and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the market.
14:38 – Knicks
KNICKS won a heavy-ground handicap over six furlongs at this course last year and he also won a competitive handicap over five furlongs at Chester earlier this season. He ran easily his best race since when a running-on third at Ayr last time and, having been left on the same mark, which is 1 lb lower than his last winning one, he looks the way to go in conditions which will be no problem for him. Huddle Up and Abate head up the dangers.
15:13 – World Of Darcy
WORLD OF DARCY has highlighted just how effective he is with plenty of give underfoot in rattling off a quick-fire hat-trick this month, seeing his race out well at Brighton last week, and he could well be up to completing the four-timer in his present groove. Cypriot Diaspora has steadily eased in the weights in recent months, and she needs considering also with conditions in her favour. McCauley’s Tavern, on return and debut for Mick Appleby, also commands a second look.
15:48 – Alpine Stroll
This looks a wide-open handicap, and it could just be worth siding with ALPINE STROLL. He arrives on the back of a battling success over a shorter trip at Yarmouth nine days ago and with a solid course record to call upon, he makes appeal turned out under a penalty. Thrilling Dream for Ed Dunlop is another of interest now upped in trip in search of the hat-trick. Hardy Bloke with a visor enlisted and Arcon are just a couple of others to consider.
16:25 – Lhebayeb
A chance is taken on LHEBAYEB, who shaped quite well when finishing third after meeting trouble at Windsor last week, keeping on well in the closing stages. She appears to be building up to something and has dropped to 4 lb below the mark she defied last autumn. Ballsbridge has been knocking on the door over a mile lately and will be threat if seeing it out back up in trip. The shortlist is completed by San Francisco Bay who was runner-up on his first attempt over this trip at Bath earlier in the month.
17:00 – Temper Trap
TEMPER TRAP took advantage of a reduced mark when resuming winning ways at Leicester earlier this month, eased late on and having plenty in hand. He followed up in similar fashion at Redcar last week, produced to lead a furlong from home and readily moving clear. Connections have wisely turned him out under a 4 lb penalty and he is well up to completing a hat-trick in conditions which clearly suit. Johnjay returned from a break with a decent fourth at Bath at the start of this month and is second choice ahead of Brian Ellison’s Pearl Sands, who goes well in the mud also.
17:35 – The Bobster
Having opened his account at Newcastle last month, THE BOBSTER shaped as if still in good form when fifth at Wolverhampton three weeks ago, a sluggish start not helping matters but keeping on like still in form. Still unexposed at this sort of trip, he earns the vote ahead of recent Chelmsford winner First Encounter. Zenato completes the shortlist.
