13:33 Doncaster – Attack
He may well never be able to pay back his €460,000 price tag but there’s every reason to expect that we haven’t seen him at his ceiling rating. Attack was posted out towards the middle of the track when making his final challenge at HQ last time and was undoubtedly hitting the line best in the finish. That suggests that the step up to the mile is perfect now.
14:08 Doncaster – Queen Of Thieves
As a full sister to the wonderful Cracksman, she’s going to be a warm order making her racecourse debut. Her full brother was a smooth winner on debut and judged by the vibes in Newmarket. Queen of Thieves can shift a bit as well. Let’s hope she lives up to the hype.
14:43 Doncaster – Harper’s Ferry
He looked good winning at Windsor over 1m 2f early in the season and then was thrown into one of the Derby Trials at Chester, where he refused to enter the stalls. The Derby dream was sunk that day but he finished mid-div at Royal Ascot before being gelded. Harper’s Ferry pulled like the proverbial train at this venue over the extended 1m 2f last time and it’s significant that the Ed Walker team drop him back in distance to 1m from what looks a very lenient mark of 93.
15:18 Doncaster – Altmore
William Haggas’ runner heads the market but has won his last two starts since been gelded. He won with any amount in hand at Pontefract last time, but steps into much tougher company now. This Class 2 handicap will give us a line as to where Altmore’s future lies but we need to catch him on his climb up the ladder and a rating of 87 certainly doesn’t look harsh.
16:25 Doncaster – Summerghand
Surely this has got to be the last role of the dice with the old boy Summerghand who seems to retain plenty of enthusiasm for the game. Things haven’t just fallen right for him of late but he didn’t run badly up in the Ayr Gold Cup last time when seventh. Provided he doesn’t get too detached in the early stages in this smaller field, he should prove too good for them.
17:25 Doncaster – Skinny Malinka
Edward Bethell’s Skinny Malinka was unlucky to bump into the very well handicapped Inappropriate when fourth at Beverly a couple of runs ago and possibly found himself hitting the front a little bit too early at Redcar last time when 3/4 of a length second to Dandy’s Angel. The trip, track and ground all look in his favour even though the assessor has given him a little nudge up the weights despite not winning.
