14:55 Newmarket – The Cursor (Daily Telegraph)
Arabian Poet was disappointing in August, but he should have potential, being a seven-figure purchase who has smart pedigree. Mersea Island is the form pick, while St Mawes may improve granted a better start. However, preference is for interesting newcomer THE CURSOR.
16:05 Newmarket – Lunar Eclipse (Tipman Tips)
Considering she held an Oaks entry at one stage, twice-raced LUNAR ECLIPSE (nap) is particularly interesting off an opening mark of 81. Her rivals last time included a couple of very smart fillies, and this is much less demanding, back from another layoff. Market confidence would cement her claims. Solid-looking contenders Zapphire (second choice) and Surveyor do warrant respect, while Twirling brings useful form and some, of the others have possibilities if taking well to headgear.
17:00 Southwell – Goblet Of Fire (The Racing App)
Assuming he’s fit and ready to roll after a six-month absence, the eased-in-grade Toonagh Warrior could prove a major force. However, the most obvious candidate is GOBLET OF FIRE (nap), who has thrived since moving to Seven Barrows. Based on his Flat exploits, and already the winner of a Hereford maiden hurdle, Nicky Henderson’s progressive 4yo could be thrown into from a mark of 108.
17:25 Navan – Rauzan (The Irish Sun)
A four-time winner over hurdles since last seen on the Flat. RAUZAN could prove nicely treated here, although this is probably as soft as he wants. Top-weight Lady Kai warrants plenty of respect, while others with strong claims include another progressive hurdler, in Say It So, as well as the likes of Black Soul and Grann’s Boy.
