Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) at Ascot for Champions Day today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

13:55 Bucanero Fuerte (Rob Wright)

Group 1 winner as 2yo, BUCANERO FUERTE hasn’t reached the same level this term but he might have needed the run when sixth in the Haydock Sprint Cup and 5f was probably inadequate in the Flying Five next time. Improvement is required here, but he arrives fresher than most and was an impressive winner on debut on his only encounter with soft ground. May still have untapped potential.

14:35 Village Voice (Moorestyle)

VILLAGE VOICE was well beaten in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot 2023 on her first attempt at 1m4f and returned to the trip only on latest outing, when comfortably moving 4l clear in the closing stages at Saint-Cloud (very soft). That was a career best, in only a Listed race compared to today’s Group 1 but she may now have more to offer at this sort of trip and is in each-way contention.

15:55 Royal Rhyme (Ben Morgan)

ROYAL RHYME was held by some of these rivals judged on recent form on good/good to firm. However, his form on soft/good to soft (unraced on heavy) comprises five wins at up to Group 3 level and a creditable fifth in this contest last year. The return to forecast slower ground is a big plus.

16:35 State Actor (Jim Delahunt)

STATE ACTOR is a heavy-ground maiden winner who followed up on handicap debut at the Curragh (1m, good) in May, before fair fourth of 15 there in June. Improved form when going very close in the Irish Cambridgeshire (1m, good) in August and this progressive 4yo could have more left in the tank.
