13:45 – Yabher
YABHER wasn’t strong in the betting and was on his toes beforehand, but he looked potentially useful when making a winning debut at Doncaster last month. He took a keen hold before moving into contention and just edging out another promising sort who has since run well again. He seems sure to progress further and has been found an excellent opportunity to follow up. Minella Boss is the danger after his promising Galway second.
14:20 – Cashlyn Cavalier
CASHLYN CAVALIER was a €110,000 purchase, and he showed more than previously in a first-time tongue tie on her qualifying run at this course in August. He only narrowly failed to land strong support on his handicap debut at Musselburgh earlier this month. He went with plenty of enthusiasm that day, just losing out in a sustained battle with the eventual winner, and there may yet be more to come from him in handicaps. Lovely Spirit and Karl Carlston can also make their presence felt.
14:55 – Nebrook Dream
NEBROOK DREAM showed ability in his three qualifying runs. He improved further, fitted with first-time cheekpieces and a tongue strap when opening his account on nursery debut at Leicester 10 days ago. That looks strong form for the grade, too, seeing off an in-form rival who has since run well in defeat, and given he had a fair bit up his sleeve, he is taken to follow up under a penalty. A market move for William Haggas nursery newcomer Mamma Maria would make her a possible significant threat. Fortaleza should also be on the premises if translating last month’s Redcar form to this softer surface.
15:30 – Seantrabh
SEANTRABH hasn’t won for just over a year, but he has become well handicapped in that time, and he shaped well, having had the worst of the draw, doing his best work late on down the outside at Redcar 13 days ago. He stayed on to finish, never nearer than at the finish, and, given he goes particularly well when the ground is testing, he’s worth chancing to build on that effort from just 1 lb higher. Trilby has been holding his form admirably this season and ran with credit in a more competitive race than this at York a week ago, so he’s regarded as a significant danger. In contrast, Secret Mistral isn’t without hope, either.
16:05 – Mercurial
MERCURIAL goes particularly well in testing conditions and is an interesting Irish raider in this six-furlong handicap. He proved better than ever when beaten a neck at Roscommon on Monday, travelling smoothly and only collared very close home. This doesn’t appear as competitive and he seems sure to launch another bold bid. Drama bagged a nice pot on the all-weather last time and is a huge threat if carrying on the good work to turf, with Hyperfocus also of interest down in class.
16:40 – Bullet Point
BULLET POINT is a progressive three-year-old who produced a big career best to open his account at Newcastle on Tuesday, making the running and easily moving clear in the closing stages. This will be the softest ground he will have faced back on turf, but if handling it, and provided this doesn’t come too soon, he can prove himself ahead of his mark turned out under a penalty. On The River escapes a penalty for his victory at York last week, so is the obvious threat, with Pearl Eye another to consider back in a handicap.
