14:15 – Archivist
ARCHIVIST improved on his debut effort when runner-up at Leicester and he took another step forward when filling the same position at Newmarket last month, sticking to his task well in the style of one who will be suited by this step up in trip.
That form sets a clear standard and he stands out as the one to beat.
New York Minute offered some encouragement when sixth on his debut for Ralph Beckett at Doncaster last month and, with improvement expected, he appeals as the main danger.
14:45 – Revoir
Ralph Beckett has his team in flying form, and he introduces a well-bred newcomer in REVOIR.
Revoir is out of listed winner Regardez and is a half-sister to a smart sort in Remarquee, who won the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes and was runner-up in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes.
She gets the vote to make a winning debut.
15:15 – Orchard
ORCHARD shaped with plenty of encouragement when a running-on fourth at Kempton last time, putting in some good late work to only miss out on third.
He remains with untapped potential and is expected to take a step forward on his handicap debut for Warren Greatrex, whose two-year-olds have been going well this season.
15:45 – Mr Alan
MR ALAN has won the last two editions of this extended mile-and-a-quarter handicap and has a good chance of winning this for the third time.
Mr Alan has been consistent this season over a mile and a half.
He arrives here on the back of a solid fifth in a competitive event at Hamilton, and he should be suited by the drop back in trip.
He’s only 1 lb higher than for last year’s win and should give a good account.
16:18 – Pont Neuf
PONT NEUF made a promising start to his career, winning novices at Kempton and Salisbury, but then struggled when set some stiff tasks.
He got back on the right track, though, when fifth on his handicap debut at Chester last month.
He shaped better than the bare result, though, as he was closer to the strong pace than ideal.
He did well to stick in there for as long as he did and has a good chance here off a 2 lb lower mark.
16:50 – Solar Aclaim
SOLAR ACLAIM won twice on testing ground for Roger Teal last year and underlined his effectiveness under those conditions when winning for Hamad Al Jehani at Goodwood last month.
Solar Aclaim backed that up with a good third under a penalty at Salisbury a couple of weeks ago and with conditions in his favour here, he should go well again.
17:20 – Marching Mac
MARCHING MAC showed improved form to register a wide-margin win at Brighton last week and he then ran respectably when runner-up at Chelmsford on Saturday, finding only a well-backed rival who was bouncing back to form too strong.
Marching Mac is due to race off a 10 lb higher mark in future, so he has a good chance on these terms.
