16:13 Montbeliarde

A low-key opener. The events at Leicester 24 hours earlier should prove informative in relation to the Keep Singing and Freak Encounter rematch. However, the form pick is George Boughey’s MONTBELIARDE, who ran well behind an odds-on favourite over 7f here on his penultimate start and had an excuse (badly hampered) at Salisbury subsequently.

16:45 D Day Harley R

As regards the runners who already have nursery form, D DAY HARLEY R is preferred on the back of an improved effort. Handicap debutants Northern Blaze, Mr Ubiquitous and We’re Done are open to improvement.

17:15 Eupator

Form choice Hott Shott has to be feared but his task isn’t completely straightforward as EUPATOR holds a fighting chance with progress on the cards and several of the newcomers are interesting, most notably Montezuma. Take heed of any positive market moves.

17:45 Dark Lyric

This can go to DARK LYRIC, who was only just caught in a 1m novice here last month and sets a good standard on this drop in trip. Faro Di Notte has been placed in three of her five starts and could pose the biggest threat if she can bounce back from a disappointing run on soft ground Sandown. Born To Lead has a striking pedigree and looks the pick of the newcomers, while another to keep an eye on is the Gosdens’ unexposed filly First Kiss.

18:15 Darn Hot Mystery

Solid contender DARN HOT MYSTERY sets the standard, while Rosso Levanto (second choice) and Cartwheel look the biggest threats among the others with experience. Based on breeding and other factors, the most interesting debutantes are Lieutenant Lily, Annsar and Bear Baby.

18:45 Loving Look

Preference is for LOVING LOOK, who may well have more to offer back at the scene of her August success. Interesting handicap debutante Ever Hopefull is feared most, ahead of consistent Bas Bleu and in-form Speriamo.

19:15 Aulis (NAP)

With the visor retained, AULIS (NAP) is taken to build on his very solid Southwell success and follow up. Palace Green, who looks interesting back down in class and returned to Kempton, is second choice ahead of Ludo’s Landing who scored over C&D last time.

19:45 Queens Guard

The unbeaten Minnie Wildes is the obvious starting point, given she’s not been extended to win her two starts, and she’s come home clear on both occasions. She hasn’t beaten much though and she was given the softest of leads at Newcastle two weeks ago.

It could be that this mark underestimates her, but there are some respected opponents, and Powerdress and QUEENS GUARD shouldn’t be underestimated. The former did well to come from off the pace in a steadily run affair here last month but Queen’s Guard, who has been fighting a losing battle in Listed company of late, can benefit from both the drop in class and return to AW.

20:15 First Company

Sir Rodneyredblood and Concierge (second choice) can go well but FIRST COMPANY has slipped back down the weights, has had excuses since returning from a summer break and is now reunited with Billy Loughnane.
