14:15 – Winnebago

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ WINNEBAGO has displayed plenty of ability on both starts so far, strong at the line when runner-up over C&D a month ago, and he looks the one to beat despite facing very different ground here. His dam won on soft on debut so that gives hope on that front. Almeraq’s debut second at Newbury on testing going was promising, though, so he’s a big threat, with newcomer San Munoz a nice type on paper, too. His dam handled all sorts of ground though did stay very well so his future may lie over further. Al Samed’s trainer William Haggas has won two of the last four renewals of this race but those victories have come with much more fancied runners.

14:45 – Sallaal

Newcomers SALLAAL and Wicked rather leap off the page from a pedigree and connections point of view, with the former, a half-brother to this year’s 1000 Guineas winner Elmalka as well as the high-class Benbatl, taken to strike at the first attempt. Wicked is a 600,000 guineas brother to the useful two-year-old 1m winner Lautrec, and represents last year’s winning yard, so is very much respected. Wave Rider is the clear pick of those with experience, having caught the eye in a major way (Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ and achieving a Timeform sectional flag) when fourth at Sandown on debut. Pinkarizon improved plenty for his debut when second on heavy ground at Ffos Las and is the pick of the rest.

15:15 – Under The Sea

UNDER THE SEA and Al Waseela dominated a nursery at Leicester a month ago and they may well come to the fore again, with the Alice Haynes trained-inmate taken to uphold the form. He seemed transformed by cheekpieces that day and can successfully carry top-weight to victory if in the same mood. Of the rest, Mystified left behind her qualifying runs when second at Wolverhampton and is expected to make her presence felt again; the betting should help, too. Unex Friendly didn’t show much here last time on her handicap debut but her dam won on soft ground and it would be no surprise to see an improved performance now tackling easier conditions.

15:45 – Dubawi Time

This drop in distance looks a good move for DUBAWI TIME and, eased a further 2 lb, he looks weighted to strike. At the time of writing, his in-form yard has won with two of its last six runners and is operating at a Run To Form of 63%. In contrast to the selection, this trip might be on the sharp side for Forest Spirit but she’s unexposed and open to progress, while Saachi also needs considering with Oisin Murphy taking over after a series of efforts that have led to a drop in the weights. Sandown runner-up Little Miss India is the clear pick of the rest, for all she looked a bit ungainly last time.

16:15 – Arazzo

The Harry Charlton-trained ARAZZO was noted finishing with plenty of running left when enduring a troubled passage here a month ago and with this step up in distance likely to suit (dam was a 1½m-1¾m winner), he looks set to elevate his form. Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ Afloat has to concede plenty of weight to the three-year-olds but all of her career wins have come at Yarmouth so she’s respected despite her 5 lb penalty, along with Umbria whose running style and German pedigree suggest that she will be suited by 1½m. Soft-ground winner Elforleather and the unexposed Ghost Story, along with the lightly-weighted handicap debutante Wanderlust, are all respected, too.

16:45 – Realised

The Harry Eustace-trained REALISED was beaten twice by Anif here earlier in the season but she has a good chance of gaining the upper hand on these revised terms. The four-year-old was a costly loser at Brighton on her penultimate start but got firmly back on track when finding just one too good back at this course over 6f last week, leaving the strong impression that the return to this trip would be in her favour. Anif is still very much respected and rates the main danger ahead of Gamblers Kitty and Primrose Maid, whose sole win came over C&D.

17:15 – Glastonbury

It could be worth chancing GLASTONBURY, who didn’t show much in a trio of maidens but there was greater promise in his recent handicap debut display at Kempton. Now upped to a mile with cheekpieces enlisted and Oisin Murphy doing the steering, the son of Showcasing could be about to take a step forward off the same mark. Top-weight Kodebreaker is feared most, with a series of good C&D runs to his name, while Dashing Donkey, Eagle Landed and Starshot are others to consider. Too Much Trevor is yet to win in 11 starts but has fallen in the weights as a result and could bounce back to form with cheekpieces back on.
