16:05 – Al Ameen
It’s hard to rule out any of these, but the vote goes to AL AMEEN who is well handicapped on his C&D win last October and didn’t get any luck when a close fourth over 7f here last time. Second choice is Valtellina, who is unexposed at this trip and was a creditable third behind two progressive 3yos at Yarmouth last month. The Waiting Game has a solid a record this season and should go well again, while the admirable veteran Mokaatil has possibilities if this sets up for his closing style.
16:40 – Miakoda
Layaali found improvement with her eyecatching third at Newcastle 13 days ago and is a big player if she can back that up. Gesundheit is bred to be much better than his opening mark and looks interesting with Oisin Murphy booked, while there are some other nursery newcomers who need a close look including Quick Point and Glad Eye. However, preference is for MIAKODA who went close in a Wolverhampton nursery on his penultimate run and looks open to more progress on this step back up in trip.
17:15 – More Than A Feelin
Most of these come with risks attached in this tricky race. Faster Bee looks ready for this step back up in trip and could be dangerous in new headgear, while Artificer showed promise in a Lingfield novice last month and needs watching in the market on handicap debut. However, it might be worth siding with another 3yo in MORE THAN A FEELIN, who is still unexposed in handicaps and is a big player if she can recapture the form of her close second over C&D in August.
17:45 – Naval Command
There is not much to go on and the market should be highly informative. The King’s Falcon shaped with some promise in tough conditions at Newbury last month and looks a likely improver upped in trip on his second start. Anglophile and Push The Limit both look the part on paper, while Hawaiian King holds a Group 1 entry, but the pick of the newcomers could be NAVAL COMMAND who cost 360,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov.
18:15 – Masai Moon
Misty Memories sets a fair standard on his unlucky fourth at Beverley and is respected on this switch to AW. Your Lordship and Phaedra both shaped with promise on turf last month and look open to progress on this step up to 1m, but there are also several interesting newcomers in the line-up. Helmsley, Sea Scout and Fort George all need a close look, but preference is for Charlie Appleby’s MASAI MOON who has several Group winners on the dam’s side of his striking pedigree.
18:45 – El Zoud
His second appearance has been a long time coming but EL ZOUD ran a hugely promising first race at Newcastle. Leadman is now 0-6 but has never run a bad race and he’s feared most ahead of She’s A Warrior.
19:15 – Thapa VC (NAP)
Top of the list is prolific winner THAPA VC (nap), who was as good as ever when runner-up behind a major improver over C&D last time. The main threat could come from AW specialist Starshiba, who has been placed in his last two runs and remains well treated on his best form last year. Others who could be dangerous are Strike and Sandy Paradise.
19:45 – Tambourine Dream
James Fanshawe’s TAMBOURINE DREAM has been knocking on the door and she’ll get a good pace to chase back at 7f. Gultari is going up in trip and that could help her, though she has looked a better filly on turf up until now. Friday’s runner-up Stacey Racey is second choice.
20:15 – Tailorman
This can go to TAILORMAN who is likeably consistent, while both he and the runner-up pulled nicely clear of Naasma here 19 days ago. Dynamiste has a bit to prove on the AW but something has clicked on the turf and she’s the obvious threat.
