13:35 My Noble Lord
Just five runners are set to line up for the 2m juvenile hurdle that opens the card. JP McManus has bought MY NOBLE LORD off the Flat and he looks like a nice type. He made no mistake when winning at Hamilton last time and brings in a Flat rating of 83 for his hurdles debut, so he sets a pretty good standard.
14:10 Roaring Legend
Olly Murphy’s ROARING LEGEND was five lengths off Paul Nicholls’ re-opposing top weight Liari at Musselburgh last season but gets a 7lb pull at the weights now. He looks to have learnt a lot since then – including when winning at this venue – and has had a wind operation. He won easily at Stratford last time, so he comes in fit and firing.
14:45 Springwell Bay
SPRINGWELL BAY has some solid form, including a valuable hurdle at Cheltenham’s November meeting. I like his profile and he brings in quite a lofty rating. He looks to have a future over fences and can make his chasing debut a winning one. He’s one of my strongest fancies of the day.
16:00 Jetoile
Course winner JETOILE won the Old Roan Chase last season at Aintree on seasonal debut, so we know he goes fresh. Not many in this field have run at Chepstow before and course form could count for plenty. He’s a strong traveller in his races and is just 1lb higher than that Aintree win.
16:35 Stolen Silver
Last year’s winner, STOLEN SILVER, won this contest nicely last season. While he’s 4lb higher in the weights now, Dylan Johnston negates that with his 5lb claim. He got injured at Newbury after his win here and missed the rest of the season, If he can reproduce his form of 12 months ago, he looks the one to beat again.
