13:30 York – Rhythm Master (each-way)
He’s a big price but RHYTHM MASTER (each-way) has found himself looking dangerously well-weighted from a mark of 91. It all depends about how he starts his race as he’s been slightly awkward and slowly away which he wouldn’t want to do at this track.
A middle starting position in box 11 is ideal over this mile trip and he has the ideal man Paul Mulrennan on top.
13:47 Newmarket – The Strikin Viking
He needs to settle over this 5f trip if he’s going to get back to his previous solid form in Ireland and also at Glorious Goodwood. This looks the ideal step for THE STRIKIN VIKING and with an official rating of 109 he sits at the top of the pile.
With lots of pace to run at, he should be able to get a little bit of cover over the first three furlongs and come home strong.
14:05 York – Pellitory (each-way)
This two-year-old is definitely a work-in-progress as he’s quite tall and leggy. However, PELLITORY managed to win with plenty of authority at Yarmouth and put up a remarkable performance after being very keen in the early stages on his nursery debut at Doncaster, to still finish second.
If he has grown up a little and learned to relax, he could be in front of the handicapper.
14:25 Newmarket – Mandurah
She looked pretty tidy on her racecourse debut and then finished a close fourth to Simmering at Ascot. That form has already been boosted significantly, and given her pedigree, MANDURAH will appreciate going up in distance to 7f. Somehow, she looks to have been overlooked in the market.
14:40 York – The Reverend
He couldn’t have been more impressive last time, winning with any amount in hand. THE REVEREND now takes an extra step up in distance to 1m 6f, but that looks well within his compass. Admittedly, we do have a few improvers in opposition, yet he has the potential to step out of handicaps and into Group company next season.
15:00 Newmarket – Noble Dynasty
He looks like the class act in the field and already has very strong course and distance form in the form book. He was slightly disappointing at Glorious Goodwood 73 days ago, but it’s obviously too early to completely write off his chances yet.
This looks like an ideal opportunity for NOBLE DYNASTY to take his wins-to-run ratio up over 50 per cent for the Charlie Appleby team.
15:35 Newmarket – Desert Flower
A perfect three runs unbeaten, including when winning at Doncaster, despite seemingly not enjoying the testing underfoot conditions. Newmarket, with its chalk-base turf, will be much more to DESERT FLOWER‘s liking, and she can continue her progression. Dreamy looks like the main danger from Team Ballydoyle.
16:10 Newmarket – Sun God
I always take note when the jockeys get down to their minimum weight. David Egan will ride at 8 stone 7lb and SUN GOD caught the eye making rapid progress from mid-division to right up behind the leaders at York last time.
That was a Class 2 three-year-old handicap and coming back down slightly in distance to 1m 4f looks ideal as he looked a little weak in the finish last time over 1m 6f.
