17:25 – Proxima Centauri / Made U Blush (each-way)

This looks like a two-horse race where MADE U BLUSH and PROXIMA CENTAURI could be contenders. The latter could improve as she gets deeper into her two-year-old career and a 50-day break should help her. Made U Blush was a late market mover at Cork on debut but had an interrupted passage before staying on strongly to be fourth. The third won last week, so if she’s a reasonable price, I’ll play her each-way. I’ll give the nod to Proxima Centauri on her pedigree. It could even be a reverse forecast play.

18:00 – Glyndwr

A 7f maiden where I Am Me should handle the Polytrack but hasn’t raced in six months after a debut second to Lady O at Roscommon. Elusive Duke has decent form but an unorthodox action and that deters me a little. I’ll stick with Ger Lyons’ GLYNDWR to score on his third attempt to lead the other two home.

18:30 – Punk Poet

Now a 7f handicap and it’s wide open as many of the runners have winning form at this track. Free Solo from stall 13 looks the pace angle where Goal Exceeded could progress as the John O’Donoghue yard gets back to form with three winners recently. Eddie G has won here before while Mehman may have it to do from stall 15, especially stepping up to 7f. The one that I’ll take a chance on is PUNK POET, who is a five-time winner at Dundalk. He’s 5lb lower off a mark of 78 than his last winning start and has run better than his previous two runs suggest. He may be the answer and Colin Keane takes the ride.

19:00 – Bucaneer’s Spirit

This is a tricky little handicap over the mile and Blues Emperor has a 10lb apprentice on board to reduce his top weight but may still be up against it. Shigar could be well in despite winning last time at Navan. There are four three-year-olds entered and the best of them may be BUCANEER’S SPIRIT, who looks open to plenty of progress and was impressive last time at Navan when well-backed. He was claimed by connections when second here at 50/1 in July and he looks to be getting better and better.

19:30 – Areana

A 10f handicap for apprentices where Areana can give James Ryan another winner as there’s a good battle for the apprentices’ title. He’s gotten off his boss Tom McCourt’s pair to ride AREANA, which could be significant. He drops back in trip from his last run, which will suit from a stall 12 draw. Maxwell Smart is respected.

20:00 – Squire Danagher

A 1m 4f handicap with just the seven declared despite a €13,500 pot. The 7lb claimer Jack Cleary gets back on board after winning a maiden on him two starts ago. He’ll need to get everything to go his way though. Colin Keane rides Shayzann for Johnny Murtagh, who has a rating of 92 and will be in sales in a few weeks. No Say Ever is an eight-year-old now and is still off a workable mark even though his scope for improvement is limited at this age now.

SQUIRE DANAGHER is on a roll and has three wins at this track. Trainer Andy Oliver is in good form and with the headgear on over this 1m 4f trip, Squire Danagher can be a winning ride for Billy Lee.

20:30 – Miss Paloma (NAP)

We sign off with another Christmas Party Night handicap over 1m 4f and this is where we’ll find my nap of the night. MISS PALOMA chased Squire Danager (runs 8pm) hard when second to him last time at this venue and Billy Lee takes over in the saddle. Eastmore has interesting connections and Seamie Heffernan is booked for Charles Byrnes but may need a longer trip to show his best.
