Plenty are in with a shout in this staying handicap. C&D winner RUSSIAN RUMOUR rates as the pick at these weights, after a good second in an amateurs contest at Ffos Las last time, so Jonathan Portman’s mare edges the vote at the chief expense of recent Catterick runner-up Tarbat Ness who has a change of headgear here. Grey Owl, Al Sayah and Calshot Spit, who won over hurdles last time, all need considering in this very open contest.

This is likely to go the way of RORY ROCKET who shaped well amid greenness when runner-up on his debut for Gary & Josh Moore in a Brighton maiden and he will be more streetwise this time. It was rather surprising that Bust A Moon made his debut over 7f at Chelmsford, given his speedy pedigree, and he is likely to be seen in an altogether better light now down to the minimum trip. Think of A Name and George Boughey’s newcomer Mini Mac are others to consider.
14:35 – Firenze Rosa
FIRENZE ROSA has failed to fire in the last twice, but the addition of blinkers, and a forecasted soft surface may prove to be a winning combination for Rachel Cook & John Bridger’s mare. She shades preference ahead of Sisters In The Sky, who scored off a 1lb higher mark here in the summer and put in good late work following a tardy start in third over C&D last week. Louis Treize and You Are Everything can battle for minor honours.
15:10 – Fairy Glen
FAIRY GLEN should be suited by this stamina test, having gone close in another listed event at Longchamp last time, and it’s worth taking a chance that Simon & Ed Crisford’s filly can cope with softer ground than she’s faced previously. Dual Grade 1 hurdle winner Marie’s Rock showed useful form on her Flat debut at Group 3 level in May and is second choice ahead of Lmay. It also wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Forest Fairy resume her progression with her sights lowered after a break.
15:45 – Marbush
Several of these youngsters are open to improvement now stepping up to a mile and a quarter and the three previous winners look the ones to focus on. Archie Watson’s colt MARBUSH is selected to take another step forward and add to his Kempton win. Second choice is Far From Dandy, who had clearly learnt plenty from his debut, when getting off the mark in good style at Yarmouth three weeks ago. Course winner Super Mirage can edge out sole filly Tap Dancer for minor honours.
16:20 – Red Cloud
RED CLOUD is steadily on the up for Gary & Josh Moore, and hasn’t been out of the first two all year, having something to spare scoring at Lingfield last month for his second win of the season. He’s the obvious one to side with ahead of Harlington, the other last-time-out winner in the field, who won at Wolverhampton. Most of the others have a bit to prove, but Bramble Jelly isn’t ruled out in a weak race, although still a maiden.
16:59 – Moe’s Legacy
To say MOE’S LEGACY has been knocking on the door of late would be an understatement for Ron Harris’ filly, beaten less than a length in second in her last three outings, and in this small field it’s easy to envisage her making all this time. Top weight Miss Bella Brand, a respectable fourth over slightly further here last time, eases in class as her handicap mark drops, so is feared most in this fillies’ sprint.
