13:45 – Many A Year

MANY A YEAR was well backed and built on an encouraging return to action at Wolverhampton when opening his account over six furlongs at Hamilton last month, taking advantage of a tumbling mark.

Now that he’s up and running, there could be even more to come from him, and a subsequent 2 lb rise in the weights doesn’t look excessive.

Bama Lama continues in good heart and rates the main threat ahead of Diamondsinthesand, who handles the mud well.

Many A Year Win or Each Way

14:15 – Double Rush

DOUBLE RUSH is a mix on breeding – there is stamina in his pedigree – and he showed something to work on when runner-up on his debut in soft ground at Windsor in August, beaten by an above-average sort who has gone in again since.

He also shaped well in a hotter race at Haydock last time, having every chance a furlong out in and around some useful types, and he sets a good standard in this field with even more to come.

Several of these are open to improvement, though, notably Arctic Voyage and Carbine Harvester back at six furlongs.

Double Rush Win or Each Way

14:45 – Pique

The way that PIQUE’ stuck to her task at Yarmouth there weeks ago strongly suggests there’s more to come as her stamina is drawn out further, deserving extra credit for finishing as close as she did from her position, so with this step up to a mile and three quarters very much in her favour, she’s the most appealing option.

Dancingwithmyself and Miss Alpilles were both unsuited by being held up in steadily-run races last time, and they could be the main dangers.

9/4
Pique Win or Each Way

15:15 – Royal Officer

ROYAL OFFICER, who is from the last crop of Galileo, cost a whopping 1,000,000 guineas at the breeze-ups earlier this year, and while he has shown much in two starts so far, he’s undoubtedly capable of better.

He attracted support when disappointing at Newmarket when last seen in July but is thought capable of better, and it is worth noting his yard is in much better form now on his return from a break.

Holborn is a newcomer who makes plenty of appeal on paper so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Hot Dancer and Lunar Orbit.

9/4
Royal Officer Win or Each Way

15:45 – Gentle Warrior

GENTLE WARRIOR has been brought along gradually, but he is bred to be useful, and he was much shorter in the betting and fitted with a first-time visor on his handicap debut at Redcar recently.

He showed improved form but wasn’t as clued up as the winner, pulling clear of the remainder, and he remains a horse to be optimistic about, particularly now moving up even further in trip.

He could be the answer in receipt of lumps of weight from Lazieelunch, who is seeking a four-timer.

7/4
Gentle Warrior Win or Each Way

16:17 – Mr Swivell

Following a solid third at Haydock on his penultimate start, MR SWIVELL shaped as if still in good form when filling the same spot over further on his most recent start at Chester 18 days ago.

A good test at this trip looks ideal for James Ferguson’s colt, and he earns the vote ahead of Pressure’s On, who ran his best race since the spring when second at Newmarket 13 days ago.

Native Souvenir and Ardbraccan are others in the mix, with Inversion another to keep an eye on.

9/2
Mr Swivell Win or Each Way

16:50 – Tipsy Tiger

TIPSY TIGER is going through a good spell, building on recent promise when resuming winning ways at Sandown last month, and he is expected to get the better of Amancio once again despite a 2 lb swing in the weights.

Steel Tiger is a potential improver who has now switched to handicaps after a break/gelding operation and is another to consider.
