14:15 – The Enabler
Gordon Elliott’s THE ENABLER was surrounded by smart horses when not beaten far in a quality bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival. He has the potential to make a name for himself in his first season over hurdles. Granted a clear round, he should be far too classy for these. Blaze The Way did win a bumper and was highly tried on his hurdling debut. So he could prove best of the rest. Jabbar is the other to bear in mind.
14:45 – Bowgate Street
It’s an open race. Ragmans Corner may have been unsuited by the undulations of Downpatrick last time, but softer ground would be preferred for him, while Get It Right and Bella Be Good are others who need to rebound after below-par runs. A chance is taken on BOWGATE STREET, who ran well time when perhaps stretched by a longer trip.
15:15 – Dream Shaper
This is not the easiest of races to assess. Fighting Fit is well-treated on his return to this sphere, but his comeback run was poor, and he might prefer softer ground. The same applies to Wee Charlie, who also has a career-high mark to deal with, as does Jinxs Link. A chance is therefore taken on the locally trained DREAM SHAPER. He caught the eye behind Wee Charlie here last time, he’s 8lb better off now and this step up in trip could help him turn that form around. The Colm Murphy handicap debutants Monsant and Depalma are worth a market check.
15:45 – Buddy One
John Ryan’s Donacheady Gale beat Another Choice and Flanking Maneuver at Listowel last time but may not uphold that form on this better ground and these much tougher terms. However, the locally trained chasing debutant BUDDY ONE has been placed in a Grade 1 over hurdles, acts on good ground and will be hard to beat off a low weight if transferring his hurdling ability to this sphere. Another Choice could prove to be the biggest danger.
16:15 – Will Do
There wasn’t much between a few of these over hurdles. WILL DO was one of the better ones in that scene and chasing was always going to be his game. Sequestered should run well and so too Anyway, who just about has the least to prove from a current well-being perspective.
16:50 – Farrokh (NAP)
A few of these have questions to answer. This trip is a concern for the in-form Likable Chancer and Our Bobby’s record on right-handed tracks is off-putting. Kilmurry Jj could be a threat back over fences, but FARROKH (nap) is the most solid option. He has been knocking on the door in recent starts. The ground will suit, and this looks like an excellent opportunity for him to get off the mark over fences. Ricky Langford could go well at a bigger price if he is in the mood.
17:20 Rural Link
It’s no surprise to see RURAL LINK back on a right-handed track after hanging away his chance at Listowel. Marine Ranger made a nice debut in that same race and he’s a danger, along with Time In A Bottle. Live Aid was strong in the market when disappointing at Kilbeggan and it will be interesting to see if his backers return.
