13:35 – Seraph Gabriel
SERAPH GABRIEL has to concede weight all-round on the back of his success at Lingfield in July, but he was very strong at the finish that day, and he looks above average. There should be even more to come from him and he’s taken to follow up before having his sights raised further. Arabian Angel is another who remains with potential and is feared, along with Haydock eyecatcher Mystical Storm and Thanks Angel, who made a bright start herself at Doncaster three weeks ago.
14:10 – Binhareer
This looks the weaker of the two divisions and BINHAREER is fancied to take a step forward from his midfield effort on debut at Leicester 25 days ago. He displayed clear signs of inexperience that day, but is entitled to have learnt plenty for that initial experience, and this might not take much winning. Legend Forever offered something to work on himself when filling the same spot on his respective debut at Ayr recently and he’s a threat. However, market confidence behind newcomers, Stay Around, Golborne and Whatsgoingonmarvin would also need to be viewed positively.
14:45 – Lzaz
There is plenty of stamina on the dam’s side of LZAZ’s pedigree and, though he didn’t show much on his first two starts, he showed his first form while still looking inexperienced over a mile at Chelmsford in August. He is bred to be a bit better than an opening mark of 61 and he is sure to relish this step up to a mile and a quarter, so he looks more interesting than most given his profile compared to the majority of these. Solar Bentley and hat-trick seeking mare Dandy’s Angel are a couple of potential threats.
15:20 – Billboard Star
BILLBOARD STAR built on the promise of his debut when landing some good bets at Newmarket in June and he went on to finish runner-up to subsequent Group 1 winner Whistlejacket in the July Stakes. He ran to a similar level when third in the Mill Reef at Newbury last time and he stands out on form now dropping into listed company, so is expected to get his head back in front. Uncle Don is most progressive so is feared most ahead of Francisco’s Piece, who took his form to another level on nursery bow when going close off 97 at Haydock last week.
15:55 – Grey’s Monument
GREY’S MONUMENT returned from a 10-week break better than ever when running out a ready winner of a 13-runner handicap over seven furlongs at Ascot four weeks ago, belatedly proving himself just as effective on turf in the process. He remains relatively lightly raced for his age and, arriving here fresh for this time of year, he looks to hold sound claims back up in class in a race where he may get an easy lead. Northern Express and Ramazan can emerge as the chief threats.
16:30 – Zapphire
Having deservedly resumed winning ways on her penultimate start, ZAPPHIRE found the run of the race completely against her when down the field at Leopardstown three weeks ago. However, she’s well worth another chance to prove her revised mark a workable one given the manner of her previous success and she is taken to get back on the up under her promising 7 lb claimer. Naepoint and Zozimus are others to consider, whilst Cruyff Turn remains well treated on old form and was successful at Thirsk four weeks ago.
17:05 – Expressionless
EXPRESSIONLESS has won twice this year and goes particularly in testing conditions, while he also left the impression he hasn’t finished winning just yet when shaping better than the bare result at Haydock in August. He was given too much to do on that occasion, threatening the leader entering the final furlong but having nothing left to give in the closing stages. Rossa Ryan taking over from an amateur rider is a plus and he’s preferred to the consistent Gibside and the prolific The Crafty Mole.
17:37 – Curious Rover
CURIOUS ROVER will find this a lot easier than the Ayr Silver Cup he contested a fortnight ago and with the return to five furlongs no bad thing, either, he looks the answer in what is his easiest assignment in a few starts. Elegant Erin arrives in top form so she’s a danger, with Seantrabh one to consider at longer odds.
