14:10 – Sir Palamedes
Conditions will be testing at Windsor and that will very much suit SIR PALAMEDES, who eased clear of his rivals in the mud over this trip at Ffos Las last month, putting his experience to good use but winning with plenty in hand. He wasn’t beaten far in a competitive nursery at York in July and, just 5 lb higher now, he has solid claims. Ardennes will be a player if handling conditions, while there are more races in Pellitory if he can settle down.
14:45 – Rory Rocket
RORY ROCKET shaped with plenty of encouragement amidst greenness on debut at Brighton earlier this month, making headway from halfway but hanging to his left and unable to go with the eventual winner in the closing stages. He’s entitled to improve now for that initial experience and he represents a yard that are going along nicely. Mini Mac looks an interesting newcomer on paper and should be monitored in the betting.
15:20 – Earl Of Rochester (each-way)
EARL OF ROCHESTER achieved a good level of form when third in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket five months ago, only three quarters of a length behind his very smart stablemate Lead Artist and, even without improving, he should have enough to open his account in this field. However, the Ralph Beckett-trained Tazima is an interesting newcomer on pedigree and needs monitoring in the betting, while Groovy Baby is a solid each-way player.
15:55 – Solar Aclaim
SOLAR ACCLAIM won two of his three starts in soft or heavy ground for Roger Teal last year, and he clicked with a ready success at Goodwood five days ago returned to similar conditions. Based on that performance, a 6lb penalty probably won’t be enough to stop him following up in a race that lacks depth and under conditions he’ll relish. Snuggle arrives in good order and a high draw could be favourable in theconditions, so he’s worth considering along with Charlie Mason.
16:30 – Willingly
An ultra-competitive sprint on paper in which it could be worth taking a chance on WILLINGLY, who shaped as if better for the run after three months off having a rare all-weather start at Newcastle earlier this month and Mark Usher’s mare is now below her last winning mark. Mumayaz shaped better than the bare result at Bath recently, so he heads up the dangers, with Thankuappreciate and Punchbowl Flyer fancied to be in the mix, too.
17:05 – Red Cloud
Several are in with a shout, but RED CLOUD produced a career-best effort when doubling his tally at Lingfield earlier this month, bounding clear in the closing stages, and provided he goes on the ground, he just earns the vote over Run of Luck, who displayed a professional attitude to get off the mark second time up in handicaps at Bath recently and should have more to offer. Innisfree Pearl beat Fen Tiger by a neck at Brighton three weeks ago and that pair should be in the mix again here
17:40 – Nasim
NASIM is a long time without a win but having shaped better than the bare result at Kempton a fortnight ago (made a big move into contention), Mark Pattinson’s five-year-old earns the tentative nod ahead of Imperial Cult, who topped off an excellent summer campaign when scoring at Epsom earlier this month. Artavian, Blue Collar and Monteria are just a handful of others to consider too, in a tricky handicap to close the card.
