A decent Fillies nursery to start and GHOST RUN looks to be improving. She’s been busy but showed on her last run at Doncaster that she’s holding her form well. The step up to 7f shouldn’t be an issue and she can get us off to a flyer.
Newmarket 13:50 – Wimbledon Hawkeye
He can look a little awkward at times, but WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE put up a huge performance behind The Lion In Winter in the Acomb Stakes at York, and then ran very well at HQ after that. Soft ground should suit him in this Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes and that’s not something I can say about Luther who looks liike a fast-ground type to me.
Newmarket 14:25 – Babouche
The Irish challenger BABOUCHE should take all the beating for Irish trainer Ger Lyons. There was a lot to like about her win at The Curragh when beating the colts in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. She and Ballydoyle’s Lake Victoria put their unbeaten records on the line this Fillies’ Group 1 contest and are joint top-rated on 112. I favour Colin Keane’s mount who is very smart.
Haydock 15:15 – Jer Batt
JER BATT is a real course specialist and that’s a big advantage at the Lancashire track. He was second to Shagraan last time with American Affair a short head back in third. That runner franked the form in no uncertain terms at Doncaster since, he’s a leading contender.
Newmarket 15:40 – Bopedro
The big-field Cambridgeshire is as competitive as always and many runners will have been targeted at it. I always want runners who come into form at the right time on my side in this and BOPEDRO fits the bill nicely. He likes this time of year, and was third last season in this contest. off a mark of 102. He now runs off 93 and looks well handicapped, a stall 22 draw should do him no harm either.
