13:50 – SPIRITUAL

ITV Racing is back Friday from Newmarket starting with this Listed Rosemary Stakes for fillies and mares over 1m. SPIRITUAL is by no means bombproof and seems to have a liking for Sandown – a bend might help her front-running style and she’s been well beaten twice at Newmarket. That all said, the John & Thady Gosden runner has a high rating and is well in at the weights in this contest and was an impressive winner of the Distaff at Sandown in July. She was also a very decent fourth to Tamfana in a Group 3 last time. The excellent Kieran Shoemark rides and all we can hope for is an easy lead. That is not guaranteed as Sirona led in France last time and Ryan Moore will know what Spiritual is going to try and do. The Gosden have won this four times before.

14:25 – TIME LOCK

Up in class a little now with the Group 3 Dubai Stakes again for fillies and mares over 1m4f. If she runs to her best it’s hard to see past TIME LOCK  for Ryan Moore and Harry Charlton. Last year’s winner is well clear on ratings and wasn’t disgraced in third behind Giavellotto in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes, a Group 2, on the July course. Should be too good. Moore is looking for his fourth success in the race.

15:00 – TROIA

Now the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes for fillies over 7f. Formal has looked very exciting in two starts and can easily score for Sir Michael Stoute who once landed this with the very useful Musical Bliss. That all said, I’ll chance TROIA  for Ed Walker and Tom Marquand. The daughter of Kingman was impressive on debut at Newbury but then missed a race on soft at Goodwood so probably doesn’t want a lot of rain. Walker’s horses who win first time usually improve plenty so that’s a good sign. One word of caution is that the Newbury second and third have both failed to win since their defeat.

15:35 – LEAD ARTIST

The big one of the day in the Group 2 Joel Stakes over 1m. There can’t be many people who aren’t aware I’m a huge LEAD ARTIST fan and he’s another for John & Thady Gosden and Kieran Shoemark who will be hard to catch. Poker Face is a potential spoiler, but in the hope Lead Artist is just too good he has to be my choice and his rallying second to Kinross on ground softer than he likes was a fine effort at Doncaster. It also suggested he will battle under pressure which perhaps one or two might have doubted.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
