16:10 – Sycamore Gap
This can go to SYCAMORE GAP who has less to prove than any of his rivals after his recent close C&D second off the same mark. A possible threat could emerge from Trailblazer whose form on this course last year brings him into it now he’s on a lowly mark. Albert Lasker is preferred of the remainder although Magic Glen is worth a market check on his handicap debut.
16:45 – Vintage Love
Masque Of Anarchy (second choice) should give his rider a good spin on his first ride as an apprentice and he’s high on the list in a weak race. Fiftyshadesaresdev finished in front of VINTAGE LOVE over C&D last week but those placings may be reversed today.
17:20 – Mr Fantastic
While Harbour Snug and My Mate Beattie can both leave their debut effort behind them, this should rest between Boston Run and MR FANTASTIC. The latter is preferred with his form looking a bit stronger and the potential for improvement on AW given his pedigree.
17:55 – Orange Sky
Newbury runner-up ORANGE SKY is taken to go one better. Arkinthestars, who ran promisingly in a Curragh sales race, is feared most. Titian Blue has possibilities provided she stays the trip. Heed the market signals with regard to the debutantes.
18:30 – Ettorino
A weak nursery with the field a combined 0-50. Of the nursery newcomers perhaps Charm Runner will prove the pick but Ashen Glow, Monticristo Boy and ETTORINO have all offered some promise. The selection has left the impression that there could be more to come from him and a gelding operation and the addition of cheekpieces earn him the tentative vote.
19:00 – Asadjumeirah
Doomsday comes here in good form and he handled this surface much earlier in his career, while Drakeholes can be dangerous on his third run back from a break. However, it might be worth chancing ASADJUMEIRAH’s stamina as he acts well here and he hasn’t looked deficient on the staying front in two runs at the trip this year. Barnaby (second choice), who shapes as though 7f will suit, and Cage Rattler are others of interest.
19:30 – Believe Me Now
Polly The Rocket, Rum Runner and Barossa (second choice) all have something to recommend them but BELIEVE ME NOW may be the answer back at 7f. Her Ayr win last month looks solid for the grade. Alibi Warning holds obvious form claims but her stamina for a stiff 7f has to be taken on trust.
20:00 – Balqaa (NAP)
Off a mark she defied in her early days, BALQAA (nap) looks capable of completing a September hat-trick. Barleybrown, who remains of interest in modest C&D events, is second choice ahead of Langton Wold who shaped better than the bare result here last time.
20:30 – Hes An Angel
This looks competitive for the grade and there looks to be no shortage of pace. Callianassa makes some appeal but stall 1 might not be ideal. Alfa Whiteburd and Golden Duke (second choice) are greatly respected but HE’S AN ANGEL looked on the way back at Southwell last time and he’s well handicapped again now. Although he was forcefully ridden last time, his peak efforts last winter came from a bit further back and those tactics could be ideal given the make up of this race.
