13:48 Temper Trap
TEMPER TRAP is on a long losing run that stretches back to August of last year and probably isn’t the force of old, but his current mark reflects that and he’s been running respectably of late.
He was a close-up fourth at Redcar on his penultimate start and was runner-up (albeit a distant one) at this venue last month, so he looks likely to give another good account of himself. It’s worth noting he has a fine record at Hamilton and has won five of his 11 starts here.
14:23 Koulikoro
KOULIKORO is a half-sister to several winners, including the useful Wobwobwob, and she showed plenty to work with when runner-up at Nottingham on debut in June. She was beaten only a neck by a rival with the benefit of experience and she is entitled to be sharper with that outing under her belt.
14:58 The Dragon King
THE DRAGON KING was unable to complete the hat-trick last time but he ran respectably to finish sixth in a competitive and big-field affair at Goodwood on his first attempt at six furlongs.
This represents a marked drop in class for The Dragon King and he will have no issue returning to five furlongs as his wins at Doncaster and Windsor were achieved at the trip. He had displayed a cracking attitude at Windsor on his penultimate start and he remains fairly treated off a 4 lb higher mark.
15:33 Spectacular Style
SPECTACULAR STYLE failed to make an impact on his seasonal reappearance at Haydock but he offered a bit more to work with when fourth at Sandown last month, leaving the impression that he would benefit from stepping back up in trip again.
He has been eased a further 2 lb so looks fairly treated based on the pick of his efforts as a two-year-old, including a wide-margin win in a weak novice over this course and distance.
16:08 Stash The Cash
STASH THE CASH proved well suited by the drop back to five furlongs when runner-up at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago, missing out by only a neck to a rival who subsequently ran well to finish runner-up under a penalty.
Stash The Cash is 3 lb higher here but that means he is only 1 lb higher than the mark he defied so impressively on his reappearance at Catterick in April.
16:43 Showhound
The application of cheekpieces seemed to have a positive impact on SHOWHOUND who turned in his best effort of the season to finish third at Chester 11 days ago.
Showhound was tapped for toe at halfway but he finished to good effect and was beaten only half a length and a head. That was a more encouraging effort and, with the headgear unsurprisingly retained, Showhound looks likely to give another good account of himself off the same mark.
17:15 Many A Year
MANY A YEAR took a big step back in the right direction when fourth at Wolverhampton 16 days ago on his return from five months off.
He wasn’t seen to best effect there having been drawn wide and posted deep on the track, but he stuck to his task and was beaten only four lengths in fourth. He has dropped another 2 lb and is on a dangerous mark if building on that recent encouragement.
