14:12 – Miss Lalita
She may have been a cheap purchase, but MISS LALITA – who is from the family of that great northern sprinter Reverence – showed enough when 3½ lengths fourth to Suite Francaise in a maiden at Newcastle on debut to suggest she can take this weak contest. Liberatus, who was held back by inexperience when 7½ lengths sixth to Linwood at Ripon, and The Lost Canvas, who was one place ahead of him that day, rate the main threats.
14:42 – Jack Of Clubs
Michael Dods has enjoyed plenty of success of late, with four winners from his last 19 runners, and is fancied to strike again with JACK OF CLUBS who signalled he is ready to go in again when fourth at Carlisle last time. He gets the vote off a 1 lb lower mark here (only 2 lb above his last winning one). The reliable Kyber Crystal seems sure to be on the premises once more, for all her best form has come on flatter tracks, while the lightly-weighted Royal Duke can have a big say if able to back up a improved recent Musselburgh second. The well-handicapped C&D winner Cuban Rock looks the pick of the rest.
15:12 – Bay Dream Believer
She may not be the most straightforward, but BAY DREAM BELIEVER comes here in top form – including for this jockey in the last two – and is fancied to quickly resume winning ways on the back of an excellent Beverley handicap third. Midnight Lion, who won at Newcastle in April off 62, should strip fitter for his recent Musselburgh fourth so could emerge as the main danger to Mark Walford’s mare. The well-treated Dr Foster and recent Musselburgh winner Kingsley Pride are also in the picture if bringing their respective A-games.
15:42 – Nariko
There could be more to come from lightly-raced three-year-old NARIKO who can make light of a 7 lb rise for her win in a very competitive race at Haydock in spring, and deny admirable front-runner Iris Dancer a third successive win in this race. Catherine Chroi may need a rest – both from the handicapper and her busy schedule – while any rain would suit fellow C&D winner Rock Melody. Recent Kempton scorer Powerdress travels a long way for this assignment and, along with May Blossom who should appreciate the return to this trip, and the in-form Giselles Izzy, completes the shortlist.
16:12 – Epidavros
The very consistent EPIDAVROS was well placed when opening her account at the expense of the re-opposing She’s Got Bottle at Carlisle, but she did it readily, and looks capable of following up with that well-deserved win under her belt. Four-time course winner Shine On Brendan – for whom Kaiya Fraser looks an eye-catching jockey booking – is feared most, ahead of Naturalia who should be more at home here than when well held at the Roodee last time. Any market support for the unexposed pair of Izzari and Wadacre Tivoli would be significant.
16:42 – Hierarchy
Top-weight HIERARCHY shaped well in a change of headgear in third at Salisbury nine days ago, coming from much further back than the front pair, so he could be ready to take advantage of his career-low mark with a stiff finish here likely to play to his strengths. He can see off the challenge of two-time course winner Impressor, who returned to form as runner-up in his last two starts, while the in-form bottom-weight Inanna is also one to note with this return to six furlongs likely to suit.
17:12 – Susiesparkle
Recent Irish recruit SUSIESPARKLE was well-backed when making a successful stable debut at Thirsk this week and is able to race without a penalty, so looks the clear pick at the weights here. Ribble River produced a career-best, when scoring at Carlisle last month, and remains unexposed at the trip, so a 5 lb higher mark may not stop him. Jaminoz is also respected, after his win under Archie Young here earlier in the month. Any market support for handicap debutant Thats My Boy Luke now stepping up in trip would be worth noting.
