13:30 – Annaf

The well-travelled ANNAF escapes a penalty for his Group 2 win in Saudi Arabia early in the year and his recent comeback run in the Haydock Sprint Cup should leave him spot on for this. Three-year-olds have won three of the last four renewals and they again play a strong hand this year with No Half Measures, Relief Rally and Adaay In Devon all lively contenders. The last-named may be the biggest threat, via a pull in the weights, and Relief Rally may be better placed than some of her rivals who tend to be ridden more patiently.

10/3
Annaf Win or Each Way

14:05 – Lieber Power

A much bigger field than when the returning Not So Sleepy won this last year but LIEBER POWER has progressed well since upping in trip, splitting a pair who were ridden more prominently when runner-up at York last time, so he’s taken to record a third win of the season despite a 4 lb higher mark. Heading the list of dangers is Waxing Gibbous, a course winner who is respected with the potential of more to offer, while Chillingham is also considered back on more suitable ground. Better is also expected from classy top-weight Grand Alliance with a pipe-opening run under his belt.

9/2
Lieber Power Win or Each Way

‌14:40 – Flying Frontier

A strong pace is expected here thanks to the presence of Laafi, Quietness, Bolster and Houstonn. That should suit FLYING FRONTIER who had Involvement behind him when scoring at Sandown last month and is taken to show he’s a step ahead of the handicapper despite a 3 lb rise. His old rival boasts lots of solid form this season and is second choice ahead of the thriving Fantasy Believer and C&D specialist Mustazeed.

4/1
Flying Frontier Win or Each Way

‌15:15 – Shadow Of Light

A general long shot for next spring’s 2000 Guineas, SHADOW OF LIGHT had subsequent Sirenia winner Symbol of Strength a place behind him in the Gimcrack and is taken to confirm his narrow superiority over Adrian Keatley’s charge. Andesite was over five lengths behind that pair, but that was his first run since a debut success in May, and it would be no surprise to see Karl Burke’s charge get a lot closer this time with a tongue-tie applied. Easy debut Pontefract scorer Powerful Glory and the unbeaten Defence Minister are two fascinating contenders, while at a price Coventry eighth Star Anthem could outrun his odds (represents Clive Cox who won the race in 2016 and 2021).

2/1
Shadow Of Light Win or Each Way

15:50 – The Fingal Raven

Described by his trainer Jamie Osborne as ‘the nicest two-year-old I’d had since Toast Of New York’, THE FINGAL RAVEN has taken a while to come to hand but he looked a horse to follow when skipping clear at Kempton earlier this month and his earlier form behind Al Qudra and Jouncy has worked out well. He’s related to Mark Johnston’s smart stayer Dee Ex Bee so should continue to progress. Stem and Shiplake are a pair of interesting newcomers who require close market scrutiny.

11/8
The Fingal Raven Win or Each Way

‌16:25 – One More

Not much form to go on but Richard Hannon’s No Nay Never colt ONE MORE shaped well on debut when running into second at Kempton. A Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’, he can put that experience to good use with Ryan Moore in the saddle. Newcomers Arctic Voyage (a half-brother to the very smart 7f-1¼m winner Lady Bowthorpe) and The King’s Falcon bring a fair bit of potential and could emerge as the main dangers, with Make You Smile another debutant to consider.

13/8
One More Win or Each Way

17:00 – City Of York

Cases can be made for a number in this well-attended renewal, so it could pay to take a chance on the lightly-weighted CITY OF YORK, who was last seen in winning action completing a hat-trick on this card last year and he turned in his best effort of the season as runner-up at Southwell earlier this month. North View got off the mark for the campaign partnered by William Buick (retained) for the first time over C&D recently so heads the dangers, while Amphius, the very lightly-raced Movie Maker and Noodle Mission merit consideration, too.

14/1
City Of York Win or Each Way

17:35 – Kodi Lion

One of the most competitive three-year-old handicaps of the season. The consistent KODI LION is on the up and shaped well in a competitive event at Southwell last time, so he’s worth a chance to defy this mark with the 1m trip sure to suit, judging by his running style. The hat-trick-seeking Great Chieftain should be on the premises, as he has gone from strength to strength since the application of blinkers, while Tribal Chief is in fine form, and is 4 lb better off than when two lengths behind Paul and Oliver Cole’s charge here in July. Sedgemoor needs respect, based on the big impression he made at Haydock three months ago, while the fitting of headgear could see an improved effort from Mirador who looked an exciting prospect winning on debut last season.

5/1
Kodi Lion Win or Each Way
