14:03 – Fiscal Policy
FISCAL POLICY proved better than ever, winning comfortably at Catterick last month on just his second start for Ruth Carr, and he wasn’t disgraced when third under a penalty at Hamilton last time. Conditions were testing at Hamilton, but a return to a sound surface at Pontefract should suit, and he remains on a competitive mark (6 lb higher than his win at Catterick).
14:33 – Reddeef
REDDEEF produced a promising first effort in sixth at Newmarket on debut and he built on that when third in a good-quality novice at Carlisle last time, despite leaving the impression he was still green. He boasts a good pedigree, being by Blue Point out of a useful mare who was placed at listed level, and there should be a bit more to come after only a couple of starts.
15:03 – Wootton’s Jewel
WOOTTON’S JEWEL was disappointing at Windsor in July, after a winning handicap debut at that venue a month earlier, but he bounced back on his last couple of starts and finished a good third at Sandown and Newbury. He was beaten by less than a length at Sandown, and then a length and three-quarters at Newbury, he’s on a competitive mark and looks of interest on a first outing at a mile and a half.
15:33 – Masque Of Anarchy
MASQUE OF ANARCHY ran no sort of race here in June, but he got back on track when runner-up at Beverley in July, and confirmed that return to form in a good third at Ripon last month. He is able to run off the same mark as at Ripon, which is 9 lb lower in the weights than when successful over this course and distance last year.
16:05 – Judgementofsolomon
JUDGEMENTOFSOLOMON produced his best effort yet on Timeform’s ratings as runner-up at Chester six days ago and should give a good account off the same mark. He went in snatches, but stuck to his task well, and looks a thorough stayer who should appreciate this longer trip. The application of cheekpieces could eke out a bit of improvement and, as the sole three-year-old in the line-up, he has fewer miles on the clock than most of his rivals.
16:40 – Times Edition
TIMES EDITION raised her game when narrowly denied at Ffos Las last month and she sets the standard. She travelled well, was produced to lead two furlongs out and quickened clear briefly, but was closed down and edged out close to home. Clearly handles testing ground well – she was also narrowly denied at Nottingham last year when the mud was flying – but the sounder surface here places less emphasis on stamina which might help given how she travelled last time.
17:15 – Light Speed
LIGHT SPEED took advantage of a sliding mark to win at Chester in July, on his third start for Gemma Tutty, and he ran well when in fourth at Beverley last month, shaping much better than the bare result. He had no room for much of the final two furlongs, which cost him his chance, but he showed enough to suggest he’s one to be positive about. He’s able to run off the same mark, a rating he defied for his former stable last year.
