13:50 Doncaster – Faylaq (each-way)
FAYLAQ steps up in trip to 1m 6f for the opening contest and could represent a nice piece of each-way value, if all eight go to post. Jim Goldie’s runner stayed on well at Hamilton over 1m 4f despite not getting the best of runs and should be able to get organised much better down Doncaster’s long straight. He’s found a rich vein of form recently, hitting the frame in his last three starts in and around his current mark. Amie Waugh’s 3lb claim helps too.
14:25 Doncaster – Jonquil
Sir Micheal Stoute will retire this season but can leave a good one in JONQUIL for the Juddmonte team. A good – if narrow – winner on debut at Sandown, he suffered interference that day and did well to battle back and win up the hill. The step up to Listed company should be just another marker along the road to better things.
15:00 Doncaster – Magnum Force
The Irish raider was just denied at York by Tropical Storm and trainer Ger Lyons doesn’t travel his runners over to the UK on a whim. MAGNUM FORCE didn’t get the smoothest of passages last time over the 5f trip on the Knavesmire. The horse he beat into third at Cork when winning before that run has since franked the form at Down Royal last week. He looks a leading contender under Irish champion jockey, Colin Keane.
15:35 Doncaster – Sweet William
A former course winner over 1m 4f, SWEET WILLIAM chased home Trueshan in this Group 2 contest last year and can go one better today. He’s been set a tall order in trying to get the better of Kyprios twice this season but did plug on for third behind the Ballydoyle runner over 2m 4f in the Ascot Gold Cup on fast ground. The softer condition now should help now and hopefully, everything falls into place to reward the Gosdens’ runner consistency.
15:55 Salisbury – Tabiti
A comfortable winner at headquarters on debut last month, TABITI drops back in trip to 6f for this Group 3 contest. It’s a fair step up from her maiden win, but the manner of that victory gives us cause for optimism. She has a beautiful pedigree – being a daughter of Kingman – and if there’s no pace early on, she should be happy to lead from pillar-to-post like she did at Newmarket last time.
16:10 Doncaster – Meribella
MERIBELLA travels north for this fillies handicap over 1m 4f with a point to prove as she’s still to grace the winner’s enclosure since a debut success at Newbury as a two-year-old. Maybe the ease in the ground will bring out the best in Ralph Beckett’s filly on just her fifth career start.
