Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
15:10 Esom – Thursday (The Times)
The shortlist is headed by the runners who have good recent same course and distance form, namely THURSDAY, Imperial Cult and Mrembo in that order of preference. Daphne May is interesting back at Epsom for the first time this year, while Savanna King has possibilities for last year’s winning connections.
15:35 Doncaster – Scenic (The Guardian)
Night Sparkle has least to prove in terms of form and stamina on the likely ground (Sumo Sam’s 2023 Park Hill was on soft) but Mistral Star’s recent 1m4f form puts her narrowly top on ratings and she may well get this extra distance. The latter point also applies to SCENIC, who impressed when breezing home in front in the 1m4f Listed Galtres at York last month, while the Galtres third Nakheel looks one of the strongest candidates for a step up in trip, so they top the list, with Oxford Comma a dark horse who cannot comfortably be ruled out.
16:10 Doncaster – Promethean (The Star)
Having stayed on well for a short-head second over 1m on his handicap debut at Newmarket, the well-bred PROMETHEAN earns the vote now he’s back up in trip. The newly gelded Harper’s Ferry could be a big danger, however, having travelled well before fading in a 1m4f Group 2 at Royal Ascot. Grey Cuban has done well in the hood and is next on the list now back down in distance, while Fox Legacy, Victorious Street, T’Challa and Blake are other interesting contenders in a hot race.
18:00 Newcastle – Fircombe Hall (Spotlight)
Not a bad race for the grade with 3yos She’sashambles and Too Much Too Young coming here on the back of a win, Louella starting out for a new yard off a dangerous mark and Sydney Bay another who is handicapped to win. Missmimi can win races at this track but FIRCOMBE HALL has conditions to suit and he may be the answer this time.
