13:50 Doncaster – East India Dock

ITV Racing is back for the second day of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster but also throw in one race from Salisbury. The action kicks off here with a handicap over an extended 1m6f. EAST INDIA DOCK will have more to do here having gone up 7lb for a recent Goodwood success but he seems to be improving for James Fanshawe and Ryan Moore is a plus. My selection has had ten races so far and had been beaten a few times off 83 before hacking up on that latest outing. He stays very well but this drop back in trip should not be an issue.

14:25 Doncaster – Symbol Of Honour

Now the Listed Flying Scotsman for juveniles over 7f. Jonquil will be all the rage after an easy win at Sandown on debut which can be marked up as he faced significant interference under 2f out. That said it’s impossible to know what the form is worth. I’m very happy to side with SYMBOL OF HONOUR who kept on well when sixth in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. He was meant to run at Newbury in July but missed that race and is now returning two months later with a step up in trip looking sure to suit. James Doyle is on top for Charlie Appleby.

15:00 Doncaster – Aesterius (each-way)

Up in grade now for the Group 2 Flying Childers for speedy youngsters over 5f. Not much between quite a few of these on ratings and I’m very hopeful there is more to come from AESTERIUS for James Doyle and Archie Watson. The youngster was narrowly beaten by Big Mojo at Glorious Goodwood where he was always up with the pace but got pounced on by the winner late on. Since then Aesterius has landed a Group 3 in France and he’s improving all the time. An each-way chance, hopefully he’s a decent price.

15:35 Doncaster – Sweet William

One of the big ones of the week in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup over 2m2f. Now Coops, better known as Normandie Stud Ltd supreme commander Philippa Cooper, has become quite annoyed with me for never tipping up her boy SWEET WILLIAM so today is the day. Last year’s runner-up ended up being attacked out wide in a muddling finish twelve months ago but the term has been a credit to John & Thady Gosden with a third in the Ascot Gold Cup and second in the Goodwood Cup. He’s a bit quirky, like his owner, and doesn’t want to hit the front too soon, but I’m hopeful he can back a big one. Robert Havlin rides.

15:55 Salisbury – Tabiti

ITV show this race from Salisbury which is the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes for juveniles over 6f. Jewelry was really good on debut at Newbury and could be anything, but she will have to be good to deny TABITI who looked equally useful when scoring at Newmarket last month. She then missed a Group 3 on soft ground which suggests connections think plenty of her and this surface should be ideal.

16:10 Doncaster – Cabrera

A fillies’ handicap over 1m4f. CABRERA has every chance in quite a modest handicap for Ed Bethell and Callum Rodriguez. The three-year-old stays strongly and was second over a mile and three quarters when last seen. However, she won here over this distance in July and while up 7lb should still have more to offer after just six races. Must have every chance.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
