16:35 Galway – Seas And Oceans
A good run from 3lb out of the handicap at Killarney indicates that SEAS AND OCEANS can win a contest of this standard. Heading the list of likely dangers are C&D festival winners Victor’s Choice and Sylkie. Purple Sky makes plenty of appeal following last week’s Gowran run.
17:45 Galway – Lord Raven
Typically open. It could pay to take a chance on LORD RAVEN. He did well on handicap debut from a wide draw at Roscommon last time and is better drawn today. Selective Power, Breezy Zoff, Sirjack Thomas, Asisaid, Drop The Dip and Kinda Tiny are players.
18:15 Galway – Galileo Dame
Scarlett O’Hara has the best overall form but her wide draw is no help. Similarly, the UK visitor Rouge Sellier isn’t helped by her draw. In contrast GALILEO DAME is nicely berthed and these conditions will suit, while this is a drop in grade from the Irish Oaks, so can prevail. Her stablemate Derida has a chance if back to her best. Last year’s runner-up Enfranchise plus Beechwood are considered.
18:30 Newcastle – Juicy
Sir Oliver (second choice) has to come into the reckoning off his reduced AW mark, while The Real McKay isn’t fully exposed and this should suit Faro De San Juan more than a small field at Brighton did last week. JUICY still has an air of unfinished business about her though and she can come out on top now upped to 6f for the first time.
19:00 Newcastle – Buon Viaggio
A competitive novice. Stanage, Classic Encounter and Baraq boast BHA ratings of 80 or more, while previous winners Barefoot Warrior and Lattaash (second choice) bring untapped potential into the contest. BUON VIAGGIO made a pleasing debut in a strong Chelmsford maiden 12 days ago though and he could take a good step forward with the experience behind him.
19:30 Newcastle – Eminent Jewel
A few ordinary turf efforts in the summer saw Jackson Street (second choice) slide to a good mark and he’s respected after a better showing at Chelmsford recently, while Flavour Maker may yet be capable of more on the AW. The one that makes most appeal, though, is EMINENT JEWEL, a half-sister to three Tapeta winners who did well to finish as close last time and remains open to improvement.
