Haydock 13:15 – Ciscero’s Gift

The ground will be key to all the runners today as there are a few thunderstorms forecast in part of the country. Rather than can get out by that I’ve gone for runners who acted with ease in the ground before and that includes Ciscero’s Gift who is usually a very solid performer.

He beat Holloway Boy on soft ground at Sandown so he’ll get through it and the trainer’s string is coming back to form.

Ascot 13:35 – Mission To Moon

He’s been highly-tried last season and won at Goodwood on seasonal bow with today’s rider Silvestre De Souza in the saddle. He beat Fair Angelica that day who has won a couple of times since. That form is strong and he could be a good value play with the ground likely to be on the soft side again if they get the rain that’s forecast.

Haydock 13:50 – Road To Wembley (each-way)

A lot of these ran at York but the ground could be totally different by the time the Old Borough Cup swings around. Grand Alliance comes in fresh and has some very good form to his name. He has Group-class form, should love the ground and can run a big race at an each-way price.

Haydock 15:00 – Jer Batt

This 5f handicap can go the way of Jerr Batt who won at this track in August beating one of today’s market leaders, American Affair, by a neck. He disappointed subsequently on the all-weather at Southwell but we can excuse him that run, particularly with his winning course and distance form and ability to handle soft ground. A big chance if you put a line through his last run.

Haydock 15:35 – Inisherin

It’s very hard to get away from Inisherin who was a good winner at Royal Ascot before coming a little unstuck at Newmarket in the July Cup. He’s proven at Haydock having won the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes over 6f on soft ground in May. He should be hard to beat in this Group 1 contest.
