14:10 – Just An Hour
JUST AN HOUR is yet to win since joining Rod Millman, but his mark has fallen throughout this season, and he’s actually held his form consistently well. He ran another creditable race in defeat in first-time cheekpieces, when hitting the frame at Catterick last time, and he finds himself in a weaker race, so he is preferred to Atalanta Breeze and Fiddlers Green, who may emerge as the most potent threats.
14:40 – We Dare To Dream
WE DARE TO DREAM is related to several winners, and has shown plenty of ability in two starts so far, beaten by a promising newcomer on debut at Ayr, and unlucky to bump into a well-backed, above-average debutant at Ripon last time. That rival has since run creditably in listed company, and We Dare To Dream is well up to winning a race of this nature. Boston Run is a player and Captain Harry should also build on his initial outing.
15:10 – Green Icon
GREEN ICON wasn’t an expensive purchase, but he displayed ability amidst greenness on his debut at Nottingham in June, a race which worked out well, and he duly built on that promise when opening his account at Chelmsford last month. That may not have been the deepest event, but he beat a next-time-out winner with a bit up his sleeve, and looks potentially well treated making his handicap debut from an opening mark of 74. Chuti Manika fits a similar mould and deserves respect, while there’s plenty to like about Pietro also.
15:40 – Silver Peak
SILVER PEAK cost a whopping €1,250,000 as a yearling and showed plenty to work on finishing fourth to a potentially smart type on his debut at Kempton a fortnight ago, held back by inexperience, but still pulling clear of the remainder with three other nice types. He wasn’t at all knocked about, and looks a sure-fire improver, so is taken to make his second start a winning one. King Casper impressed scoring here last month and is highly respected under a penalty, while Aegean Sea could build on his promising debut.
16:17 – Defence Minister
Only five runners, but this looks a potentially hot novice, with the preference for DEFENCE MINISTER, who cost €210,000 at the breeze-ups earlier this year, and looked a good prospect on a winning debut at Newmarket last month. He overcame inexperience, but showed plenty of natural speed given there is stamina in his pedigree, and form has been boosted by a third since. He is expected to defy a penalty and follow up, with fellow last-time-out scorer Dark Cloud Rising another of interest, along with Arabian Angel.
16:50 – Naaey
NAAEY justified strong support when bolting up at Doncaster last month, giving reason as to why her leading yard have persevered with her and, with further progress on the cards, the John & Thady Gosden-trained four-year-old is fancied to notch career success number three, likely at the expense of Elladonna, who arrives on a hat-trick but rather curiously has the hood discarded on this occasion. Warda Jamila looks the most interesting of the three-year-olds and completes the shortlist.
17:20 – D Day Arvalenreeva
D DAY ARVALENREEVA looked mighty unlucky not to win at Windsor on her most recent outing in June, after waiting for a gap for the best part of two furlongs, and just failing to get up once getting a run inside the final furlong, so she’s taken to gain compensation. Free Speech doubled her career tally in fine style at Pontefract in July and seems likely to give a good account, while Muqinah is an interesting handicap debutante.
