13:30 Beverley – Walter Hartright

His winning run ended last time at Chepstow, but it was still a brilliant performance. WALTER HARTRIGHT was softened up on the front end by the eventual winner’s stablemate and may have a bit of a battle on to lead here. However, he’s not one-dimensional and is still improving.

13:50 Sandown – Feel The Need

He did well on the speed-favouring track at York, coming from well back in the ruck for a smooth victory. FEEL THE NEED, then bumped into a well-handicapped hat-trick winner. He’s off a little break now and this looks like it’s been the target for him.

14:05 Beverley – Blue Storm

The young sprinter in the line-up bids to serve it to the older brigade. BLUE STORM has strong claims based on his win at Epsom against his fellow three-year-olds and he was arguably unlucky at the Royal meeting last time. He can continue the hot run for the Gemma Tutty stable.

14:25 Sandown – Doha

If one opponent is going to lower the colours of the 1,000 Guineas-placed Tamfana, it could be DOHA. She did incredibly well to finish fifth behind Opera Singer at Goodwood, considering she was way out of her ground early on. Dropping back down in distance to the mile could prove the correct move now.

14:40 Chester – Revich

It’s no surprise that REVICH arrives here with four consecutive duck eggs. There’s a massive pot on offer for this natural course and distance specialist. Hot rider Oisin Orr is booked and Revich isn’t too poorly positioned in stall nine. He’s one of only a couple of runners who are well-handicapped in this field.

15:00 Sandown – Wonder Legend

WONDER LEGEND has not produced anything like the demolition display he put up at Doncaster last season since that day, but he certainly looked above average then. His return effort was underwhelming in a hood and he seemed to have gotten a little worked up before that run.

His excellent handler, James Ferguson, who is having a particularly hot spell at present, has given him time.

15:15 Chester – Samui

Gordon Elliott’s SAMUI did incredibly well to just be denied by Extension at York – having to concede a whopping 17 lbs to the winner. He now steps into Listed company and should be able to prove his superiority despite taking a rise in class. It could be a memorable afternoon for Oisin Orr.

15:35 Sandown – Royal Playwright

Andrew Balding’s colt was learning on the job when winning on his debut at Salisbury last time. ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT looks like an impressive physical specimen who will only reach his full potential next season as a three-year-old. Some superstars have previously won this Group 3 contest; let’s hope he can continue that roll of honour.
