Each of Scott Dixon’s three runners has something to recommend them, with Embarked perhaps the most persuasive, but MERCURIUS POWER is handicapped to go well and should be at peak fitness with two runs back from a break behind him.
18:05 Salisbury – Twisted Tiara
Treacherous is dangerous at this level but he’s not certain to confirm recent Bath placings with Connie’s Rose. Little Miss Magic shouldn’t be underestimated, but TWISTED TIARA makes her handicap debut off a realistic mark, and she’s worth chancing.
18:25 Down Royal – Beacon Edge
Highest-rated hurdler in the field with conditions to suit, BEACON EDGE can build on his recent Galway fourth and win at the main expense of Charles Byrnes’ classy Flat campaigner Run For Oscar. Tag Man should find this easier than his last assignment while Dartan could bounce back from a below par effort at Galway, but will need to if he is to trouble the selection.
19:00 Down Royal – Reserve Judgement
Course winner RESERVE JUDGEMENT can get back to winning ways. He was an impressive winner at Kilbeggan on his penultimate start under Carl Millar who is back aboard. Bayonetta is unexposed over this trip and is entitled to plenty of respect, while Mister Vic will be a big player if ridden closer to the pace.
19:05 Southwell – Turner Girl
It could pay to chance TURNER GIRL, who has benefited from a change of headgear in the past, and she has form here. Caldwell and Squeezebox had excuses last time, but both should run well.
19:13 Salisbury – Bonaventure
With further improvement possible at this distance, BONAVENTURE gets the vote. Assuming she transfers her AW progress to turf, Midnight Drive is feared most ahead of Samoon Star, Claxton Bay and Daymer Bay in that order of preference.
