13:50 – Insanity (NAP)
Wafei was a big eye-catcher at Goodwood, and while it can be easy to get carried away by fast finishers on that track, he still needs to take a step forward. INSANITY seems the one to go with, as he’s found some good form on the Flat this season. He looks straightforward and is a fair price—my NAP of the day.
14:25 – Alsakib (each-way)
This contest seems to have plenty of early speed – particularly with Quickthorn in the field. That could set it up for a closer, and the likely one to do it is ALSAKIB at a price. He’s lightly raced and progressive, winning the Silver Cup last time on this track. He’s got lengths to find with Gregory, but the latter is not the most reliable. I’ll give Andrew Balding’s runner an each-way chance.
15:00 – The Strikin Viking
I’ve been keen on THE STRIKIN VIKING in this 6f Gimcrack Stakes. He had nothing to race with for the half-furlong last time and got chinned by Black Forza at Goodwood. The draw in stall 10 could be kinder, but if he can sit in behind and get some company to the line, he looks a play. Big Mojo must prove he’ll stay this 6f trip after winning over 5f.
15:35 – Regional (each-way)
Big Evs has an awful draw in stall 14 of 14, and I can see a shock here. The low numbers have dominated the sprints, and the outsider Ponntos has pace around him in stall one. It wouldn’t surprise me if those drawn one to five to fill the places, primarily REGIONAL in two. I’ll mix ‘n’ match a few forecasts with those in and around the low draws like Ponntos, Regional, Bradsell, Clarendon House and Live In The Dream. Washington Heights is underrated, but again, stall 10 is tricky.
16:10 – Reach (each-way)
I have no strong opinion on this 10f Fillies handicap but the trip and the conditions should suit REACH. She’s been off for a few weeks and can run a solid race to hit the frame.
