13:50 Celandine
Ed Walker’s filly Celandine has been building herself a very solid profile and she ran as well as could be expected over the flying 5 furlongs at Goodwood last time. She steps back up in trip to today’s 6f distance which is clearly going to suit. She may have been overlooked in the market.
14:25 Midnight City (each-way)
Maw Lam would be an easy pick as her recent form is rock solid but she’s going to be tight in the market while Midnight City has only had the one initial outing at headquarters and was learning on the job. However, Midnight City (each-way) hit the line very strongly that day when getting the hang of things and if you avoid the few with the best official ratings, she’s an each-way player.
15:00 Aragon Castle
I’d argue that we haven’t seen the best of this three year-old Aragon Castle yet and with the weight-for-age concession, he brings in some very solid form. He didn’t get a great amount of luck at Goodwood when stumbling out of the starting stalls after his Hamilton win. With a strong pace assured today, he is sure to finish well and hit the line strongly.
15:35 Sea Theme (each-way)
Let’s hope we get the ‘dead eight’ runners going to post in here which will provide us with a perfect opportunity to back Sea Theme at a huge price. She was fancied to go well against Queen of the Pride at Haydock when they last met (was beaten 3l into fourth the first time), but slipped on the top turn so we can confidently put a line through that effort. She subsequently came out and bolted up in a lower level in France and she looks underestimated in the market.
16:10 Nakheel (each-way)
Nakheel looks an each-way player judged by her staying on fourth last time from a very poor position. She seemed to race off the bridle and is hopefully growing more into the finished article with each race.
16:45 Age of Gold
The Godolphin runner Age Of Gold has been gelded since his last run when down the field at Royal Ascot and hopefully that gets him to focus better now. He looked a promising when winning on his racecourse debut at Yarmouth and will in time want a trip further than today’s 7f. His opening handicap mark of 89 looks very workable.
17:20 Queen’s Reign
We finish with a tricky 7f handicap and Queen’s Reign put up a super performance when winning at Goodwood in May over the mile before being beaten at Newmarket when odds-on. The return to 7f will suit and the Ed Walker stable are in tremendous form.
