17:45 – Road To Wembley

ROAD TO WEMBLEY has progressed well since entering handicaps and moving up in trip, winning back-to-back handicaps at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. He has shaped well in defeat in three starts since.

He was unlucky to bump into a progressive Sir Mark Prescott runner at Newbury last time, who has since won again, and with the return to an artificial surface in his favour, he seems sure to launch another bold bid.

Almudena, another progressive type, will be a significant threat turned under a penalty, while Filibustering and Banderas also need consideration.

18:15 – Fox Legacy

FOX LEGACY had shown promise in his first four starts, but he improved much after eight weeks off when he opened his account at Salisbury last week.

That was his second start in a handicap, but he proved himself well ahead of his mark, going clear around two furlongs out and having 12 lengths in hand at the line.

Connections wisely sent him out under a penalty, and he will be very hard to beat if he continues in his current form.

Secret Beach pulled clear of the rest when an excellent second under a penalty at Epsom and is next best ahead of the thriving Humble Spark.

18:45 – Accrual

Having already won back-to-back novice events this year, ACCRUAL has continued his excellent work in handicaps, again finding only one too good at Chester on his latest outing 26 days ago.

That form is working out well, with the winner running well in defeat and the third and fourth both winning since, so he’s very much of interest again for his great yard.

Thirsk scorer South Parade and low-mileage filly Juicy are others to consider, though Faro de San Juan and Mattice are just a few others to bear in mind.

19:15- Who’s Glen

This race is wide open, so at the likely odds, it is worth siding with WHO’S GLEN to take a sizeable step forward, now making his handicap debut with his stamina drawn out.

He has made steady improvement in three starts so far, doing all of his best work at the end of the race and finishing with running left at Southwell last time, and he appears to have been handed a lenient mark.

Recent Windsor scorer Night Breeze is feared most under a penalty, with the handily-weighted Corsican Caper and in-form duo Percy Jones and Lexington Knight also very much in the reckoning.

19:45 – Al Rufaa

AL RUFAA is by no means an easy ride. Still, he went agonisingly close to capitalising on a falling mark back on all-weather at Kempton last week.

He went like the best horse at the weights and found the splits coming almost ideally after his rider took a direct route through the pack.

He only just failed, and he will remain of interest from the same mark with this straight mile almost sure to suit his run style better.

The hat-trick-seeking Glam Squad is the second choice ahead of Tolstoy, who caught the eye by tackling 1m for the first time at Ascot.

20:15 – Heathcliff

HEATHCLIFF‘s form has taken off since handicapping. He has won two of his three starts and scored with plenty in hand at Kempton two weeks ago.

There should be even more improvement on the cards, too, so James Fanshawe’s three-year-old is fancied to come out on top again, likely at the main expense of Prince of Zenda, who goes well at this track and is currently in top form.

Last year’s Stewards’ Cup winner, Aberama Gold, looks to be coming to the boil again so that he can fight it out for minor honours.

20:45 – Akkadian Thunder

AKKADIAN THUNDER hasn’t been with this yard long but has made a positive start. He did well scoring at Doncaster last month after having trouble in-running.

That was a career-best effort, and he did well to overhaul a rock-solid operator. With further improvement expected, he gets the narrow vote in what is sure to be a hotly contested race.

Jumby is an obvious threat if he can back up his effort in the Hungerford at Newbury over the weekend. Ten Pounds is a prominent player with a few miles on the clock.
