I’m not mad keen on this contest but this looks a deep race. I’m not against Leovanni, who is two form two including the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. Miss Lamai learnt from her Ascot run and was impressive at Naas last time. She’s a stablemate of Leovanni but I’d be tepid enough on both! Miss Lamai could offer better value out of the two.
14:25 – Arizona Blaze
Maw Lam has the ability to win this but you don’t want to be giving away a start at York so it’s best to look to the lower numbers. Arizona Blaze has been good all season and deserves to get his head in front in this valuable contest after competing at the top table for most of the season. He’s the classy runner in this race.
15:00 – Mirsky (each-way) (NAP)
I’ve been waiting a while for Mirsky, despite being beaten at Haydock at 7f last weekend. That doesn’t bother me at all though. He was beaten less than two lengths in fifth and this step up to a mile will really suit. Mark Winn claims 3lbs off him now and he’s a big price in a race that may suit, despite David O’Meara being mob-handed in this contest. He’s my NAP of the day.
15:35 – Lava Stream (each-way)
Lava Stream seemed to bounce at the Curragh after her Royal Ascot run. A small play each-way will do me if we get the eight runners. I’m prepared to give her another chance to prove she is better than her last run.
16:10 – Climate Friendly
A 1m4f contest for fillies where Sea Just In Time heads the market for William Haggas. I’ll take a chance on Climate Friendly as she may be improving as a four-year-old. She was poor on her debut but she had moved stables in the meantime. She should come forward from that and can rock and roll if allowed to lead from the front. It’s probably just a win only bet.
