13:50 – Bold Optimist & Squealer (each-way)
Squealer could give you a run for your money from stall 18. He’s a fair each-way price but the draw could be against him. He looks like a saver with Paddy paying six places. As the winning bet, I like Bold Optimist on the other side in stall four and he can go close after a good win at the Curragh last time.
14:25 – Ruling Court
Ruling Court was very impressive at Sandown and The Lion In Winter ran a good race at the Curragh to beat Currawood and Ides of March. However, I just preferred what Ruling Court did. It looks a match but Ruling Court is among my best bets on the day.
15:00 – Los Angeles (NAP)
The Great Voltigeur Stakes sees a small-but-select field of six declared with Aidan O’Brien’s runners making up half the field. Ballydoyle obviously want to ensure a strong gallop for the Irish Derby winner Los Angeles. He’s tough and was always holding the opposition in the Irish Derby and it looks like he will always just do enough. Kings Gambit may get to him – but he’ll have to pass him. He’s my nap.
15:35 – Israr (each-way)
City Of Troy wasn’t impressive in the Coral Eclipse Stakes despite winning and may have a little to prove at this 1m 2f trip. It’s a very competitive race but I’m not sure there’s many in it with the class to beat City Of Troy. Just because it’s a bigger field than we’re normally used to, doesn’t make it any classier. There’s a lot of the field who are Group 2 performers and they’re up against a proven Group 1 performer in City Of Troy. I’m not sure Aidan O’Brien’s runner is an even money shot though and I’ll take him on with Israr (each-way), who was very impressive when winning at Royal Ascot.
16:10 – Tritonic (each-way)
Tritonic has dropped in the weights this season and he ran well at Goodwood last time over 2m 4f, having disappointed at Royal Ascot over the same trip. The return to 2m should suit him better now and he has an each-way chance.
