13:50 – Pilgrim

The Barron’s runner has shown so far this season that he was not just a flash in the pan as a two-year-old. He took his form to another level altogether with an easy win at Royal Ascot. Admittedly, he now goes in against the older division but we have the same old faces turning up again in this heat. PILGRIM is one of the young pretenders on the sprinting block.

14:25 – Ruling Court

RULING COURT absolutely destroyed the field at Sandown on debut, despite not travelling with that much fluency in the early stages. Let’s hope Ruling Court is a little wiser now. He steps up in grade now and there’s no getting away from the fact that he was both visually impressive and the time was good too when winning last time. He’ll be high up in 2025 Derby betting if winning this contest now.

15:00 – Los Angeles

At some point over this galloping 1m 4f course, the Irish Derby winner is going to look as if he’s in a bit of trouble. LOS ANGELES may get out-paced, but I’m sure when the winning post is within hailing distance, the turbo will kick in. He can make himself the one to beat in the final Classic of the season – the St Leger – at Doncaster next month.

15:35 – Maljoom (each-way)

MALJOOM is a massive each-way price off the back of an excellent second 21 days ago to Notable Speech. He should work his way into top gear over the extended 10 furlongs and be hitting the line with real purpose. We all want to see a superstar and City of Troy could be just that. Maljoom (each-way) could be the way to go against the favourite.

16:10 – Knightswood

KNIGHTSWOOD hasn’t had much luck in his races so far this season and surprisingly has been eased a little in the weights by the assessor. He was all dressed up with nowhere to go again last time at Goodwood behind one of his stablemates when unlucky in running. Now stepping up in distance to this two-mile trip at a more galloping venue, Knightswood can take advantage of the handicapper’s leniency.

16:45 – Got To Love A Grey

GOT TO LOVE A GREY has run herself into decent form again and put up a smart performance over the very sharp 5 furlongs at Goodwood last time. The form was boosted with the third that day coming out and winning subsequently.

17:20 – Peninsula Power (each-way)

As of yet PENINSULA POWER hasn’t set the world alight in three outings but his trainer Richard Fahey has gone on record suggesting that the assessor may have let him in very lightly for this big prize. He does sit a couple of lbs wrong in the long handicap, but it’s such a big prize that they have to take this opportunity.
