14:15 – Shes A Novelty
She’s A Novelty enjoyed a productive campaign last year, winning two of her four outings, and she has made an encouraging start this season. She stepped up on her reappearance effort when runner-up at Windsor in June, finding only a much younger and progressive rival too strong. That form has been franked by the winner going on to win her next three starts, so She’s A Novelty looks fairly treated after edging up only 1 lb. She will also have the assistance of Brodie Hampson who is one of the most experienced jockeys in this amateur riders’ contest.
14:45 – The Feminine Urge
The Feminine Urge has offered some encouragement in two of her three starts in maiden and novice company and strikes as a potential improver on her handicap debut. She was badly in need of the experience on debut at Windsor but was beaten less than two and a half lengths at Sandown on her second start and, based on that showing, could be starting out in handicaps on a fair mark. Trainer George Scott has had plenty of two-year-old winners in recent weeks.
15:15 – Ghathanfar
Ghathanfar is on a long losing run that stretches back to 2022 but he’s understandably been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper. He’s been below his best of late but he was knocking on the door earlier in the campaign and he takes a drop in grade here. He also has a handy draw to attack from in stall three so it would be little surprise to see him launch a bold bid.
15:45 – LEagle Aid
L’Eagle Aid made a promising start to the campaign when finishing placed in handicaps at Beverley and Doncaster but he’s failed to kick on from those efforts and was notably disappointing at Hamilton last time. However, he’s been found a weak race and this looks like a good opportunity for him to bounce back and get off the mark.
16:15 – Macanudo
Macanudo has yet to win for Ian Williams but he has been runner-up on three of his last four starts, including in a six-furlong handicap at Lingfield last time when he was denied by only a head. Macanudo went down fighting there and is likely to give another good account after edging up only 1 lb. He drops back to five furlongs here but he has a good record at this trip (his sole success for his previous yard came at five furlongs and he was beaten only a short head at Ffos Las last month).
16:45 – Bulmer Bank
Bulmer Bank has been in good order this season and has finished placed on his last three starts. The way he went through much of the race when third at Chester on his penultimate start suggests that he could be ahead of his mark if putting it all together.
