14:05 – Miss El Fundi
MISS EL FUNDI shaped well in the face of a stiff task when fifth in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and confirmed that promise with an emphatic success at Kempton last month.
Miss El Fundi had shown up well for a long way in the Chesham and had no problem dropping back in trip to six furlongs last time, only needing to be kept up to her work to score by three and a quarter lengths.
She remains open to further improvement and is taken to make a successful handicap debut.
14:40 – Musical Angel
MUSICAL ANGEL has a speedy pedigree and offered plenty of encouragement when runner-up behind a rival with experience on her debut at Ascot last month.
Musical Angel knew her job well, though she’s still likely to improve for the experience and it’s worth noting that she holds an entry for the Cheveley Park Stakes later this autumn.
She gets the vote ahead of Toomuchforme who left her debut effort well behind when successful at Ripon 11 days ago.
15:15 – King’s Charter
KING’S CHARTER, a €650,000 yearling purchase, shaped with plenty of encouragement when third in a strong-looking Sandown novice last month and looks capable of significant improvement (has the Timeform Large P).
It took King’s Charter a while to hit top gear but he proved strong inside the final furlong and was only beaten a neck and a length.
This looks like a deep maiden but he sets a good standard for his rivals to aim at and he should be suited by the step up to a mile.
15:45 – Adrestia
ADRESTIA found the Queen Mary Stakes coming too soon in her development. But she outclassed her rivals when dropping into maiden company at Yarmouth and then followed up in style on her nursery debut at Sandown last month, doing well to overcome unfavourable circumstances.
Adrestia was bumped at the start and ended up last as a result, while she was further inconvenienced when having to wait for a gap entering the final furlong. But she found a decisive change of gear when in the clear and she was value for about double the winning margin of a length and a half.
This £420,000 purchase is going the right way and looks up to making her mark at listed level.
16:20 – Lord Rapscallion
LORD RAPSCALLION has fallen in the weights but he took a step back in the right direction when third at Newmarket last month and looks worth siding with from his reduced mark.
Lord Rapscallion’s latest effort can perhaps be upgraded a touch as he came out best of the three who raced in the centre group, and he is now 7 lb below the mark he defied at Newmarket last season.
16:55 – Eagle Eyed Tom
EAGLE EYED TOM shaped well when third on his return from a six-month break and first start for Mark Loughnane at Nottingham a couple of weeks ago.
Eagle Eyed Tom was only beaten a length and probably would have given the winner plenty to think about had he enjoyed a clearer run in the closing stages. He’s only 1 lb higher here and can make amends.
