MAKALU is enjoying an excellent season and fancied to bag a fifth success having not enjoyed the rub of the green when third at Pontefract last time. Bowood made a winning start for Ivan Furtado at Doncaster recently and is feared most, with Jumeira Vision, Mount King and Pinball Wizard also in the mix in this open handicap.

WE DARE TO DREAM showed plenty of ability when runner-up at Ayr on debut last month and this looks a good opening for him. Richard Fahey’s newcomer Mearall may emerge as the main threat ahead of Ann Terry.
15:10 Lesley’s Boy
LESLEY’S BOY justified support in good style at Wetherby a couple of months ago and, with further progress on the cards now heading into nurseries, Richard Faheys’s colt is fancied to follow up at the expense of Art Design, who was placed on her recent handicap debut at Newmarket and first-time cheekpieces may well eke out that bit extra. Easy Peeler, who is another potential improver now handicapping, completes the shortlist.
15:40 Cool Legend
COOL LEGEND looks a winner in waiting from this mark and can come good in cheekpieces. There was plenty to like about the way St Pancras went about things at Pontefract and he looks the chief threat.
16:10 Protest Rally
PROTEST RALLY has been in good order for a while and this is a bit easier than the race he contested last time, so he takes marginal preference over Hurstwood and Latin Five, who also arrive on the back of positive runs.
16:40 Bursinel
BURSINEL is given one more chance now dropping back to 1m. Last weekend’s Thirsk third Degale is the obvious danger.
17:10 Jez Bomb
JEZ BOMB opened his account in good style when scoring at Redcar 3 weeks ago, coming from last to first in a slowly-run race, so he is taken to build on his latest effort and follow up. The main danger could be Sea La Venus, who is well worth another chance with her yard in excellent form, ahead of Evelyn’s Phoenix.
