18:12 Lunar Force
Farandaway made a promising start when runner-up at Newcastle last week and should benefit from that experience, but slight preference is for LUNAR FORCE, who sets the standard on her close third at Beverley last month and is open to more progress on this step back up in trip. The pick of the newcomers could be Bob Mali, who represents a yard with a 16% record with 2yos this season.
18:42 DC Flyer
Preference is for DC FLYER, who made all for a convincing win at Newcastle last Friday and is a big player again if he can continue the good work back on turf. The well-handicapped Parisiac could pose the main threat, although Cuban Rock has been generally reliable this season and is respected. Zuffolo beat some of today’s rivals over C&D last time, but almost all of his turf runs have been on good/good to firm ground, and he probably needs the ground to dry out.
19:12 Shifter
Iain Jardine won this in 2021 and 2023, and the pick of his three runners could be Elemental Eye, who has had two eye-catching seconds this summer, and things didn’t go his way against a pace bias last time. Helter Skelter has been knocking on the door recently, while She’s Got Bottle is respected on her stable debut and Eeetee and Naturalia also enter the reckoning.
However, the vote goes to SHIFTER, who is 2-2 at this track and looks interesting dropped back in trip after a good run in a Class 4 at York last month.
19:42 Eternal Sunshine
Something has to give where the winning streaks of the upwardly mobile fillies Stormy Pearl and ETERNAL SUNSHINE are concerned. Preference is for the latter. Enderman (banker for a frame finish), Sound Of Iona (still on an historically tiny mark) and John Kirkup (with the blinkers reapplied) also make appeal.
20:15 Sir Garfield (NAP)
The vote goes to the progressive 3yo SIR GARFIELD (NAP), who rallied well to win on soft at Catterick last month before a close second in a big field at Redcar 11 days later. Course winner Braes Of Doune had a near-miss over C&D 19 days ago and he’s feared most ahead of John L Sullivan, who still has potential and could find more progress back at this trip. Another to consider is Vince Le Prince, who drops back in grade after a good run from a tough draw at Chester last time.

A rum assortment collectively 0-61 this calendar year, with ten still maidens. Four Prime Ministers have come and gone since VISITANT‘s one previous C&D success, but recent signs have been encouraging, including in another 1m2f classified last week. Millbuie’s need for 1m2f remains assumed rather than proven, but he can give the selection most to worry about if getting the basics all right this time.
