14:10 – Harmonia

HARMONIA has shown much improved form since entering handicaps, confirming the promise of her debut in this sphere when opening her account with plenty in hand at Catterick last month. She was ridden more patiently than previously and comfortably beat the reopposing Shielas Well by three and a quarter lengths.

The handicapper has raised her 8 lb for that success, but that more than likely underestimates her, and she is a strong fancy to follow up. Shielas Well is fancied to follow her home again, while Rose of New Jersey may do better still now upped in trip on handicap debut.

14:40 – Mae Amor

It’s hard to get away from MAE AMOR, who came third in a race that is working out well on debut at Wetherby, and she wasn’t disgraced pitched into an even deeper event at York last time. That was her first start for seven weeks, so she’s entitled to sharpen up for it, and she now finds herself in a weaker event.

Neytiri Te Tskaha was still in need of experience at Thirsk last time, but he can give the selection most to think about in this, with debutante Monetize rounding off the shortlist.

15:10 – Novello Lad

NOVELLO LAD isn’t long with this yard and he is improving all the time, deservedly opening his account in a six-furlong handicap at Doncaster at the end of June. He justified very strong support in the process, soon dropped out after breaking well and coming through with a powerful run to lead approaching the final furlong.

There should be even more to come from him now he’s up and running and he is a big player in the same grade of handicap. Profiteer has held his form well since winning over seven furlongs here in May and rates as the biggest threat, with Highland Olly competing the shortlist on the back of a sound effort at Ayr.

15:40 – Strong Johnson

STRONG JOHNSON has shaped better than the bare result on several occasions so far this season and he continues to fall down the weights (now 10 lb below his last winning mark). His run at York last time is best ignored, coming in the jump jockey’s Nunthorpe, while he also hasn’t got a great record at that track, so he is well worth another chance kept to five furlongs.

Albegone has to be respected after a good effort over course and distance at the weekend, whilst the generally progressive three-year-old Law of Average is also hard to discount.

16:10 – Quietness

QUIETNESS is improving all the time, completing a hat-trick at Haydock last month, and pulling clear with a handicap debutant from a top yard despite failing to keep straight under pressure at Sandown.

That form looks solid and she could be the way to go back up in trip. It’s easy to see Optician going well again, while Saratoga Gold can also feature.

16:40 – Calafrio

This is a weak race and slight preference is for CALAFRIO. She remains a maiden, but has been holding her form well this season, and probably wasn’t suited by softer ground at Catterick last time.

She comes out well at the weights back in classified company and is more solid than most in this field. Old rivals Flavius Titus and Arlington will be in the mix again.
