Ruby Walsh’s ITV Racing Tips
13:35 Ascot – Kylian
14:10 Ascot – Fox Journey
14:45 Ascot – Set Point
15:00 Haydock – Brackens Laugh
15:20 Ascot – Jarraaf
15:40 Newmarket – Lake Victoria
15:55 Ascot – Solomon
16:30 Ascot – New Image
16:45 Haydock – Caernarfon (NAP)
13:35 Ascot – Kylian
KYLIAN has dropped down the weights considerably after a couple of below-par starts. He’s capable of much more and he’s down from a mark of 105 to 94. He was disappointing at Ascot and Doncaster but drops down in class now and he’s a big price.
14:10 Ascot – Fox Journey
I’m not full of confidence but I’ll side with FOX JOURNEY for Sir Michael Stoute. He’s had a few poor runs but a step up in trip to this two-mile distance could bring out improvement. He’s off a mark of 95 which is more than workable.
14:45 Ascot – Set Point
SET POINT for Gordon Elliott is interesting. He beat Scholarship in the Ladies Derby at the Curragh last time out and that was a decent run. Plenty of these are really exposed so I’ll keep him on side.
15:00 Haydock – Brackens Laugh
I’m not confident in Anmaat as we haven’t seen him since May 2023. I’ll back BRACKENS LAUGH, who has just had a wind operation. On ratings, he has a bit to find but Richard Hughes thinks a lot of him so I’ll do the same!
15:20 Ascot – Jarraaf
JARRAAF is stepping back into this three-year-old-only race after beating older horses. He won last time out at Ascot and he can get his head in front once again for Owen Burrows and Billy Loughnane.
15:40 Newmarket – Lake Victoria
Aidan O’Brien has sent over LAKE VICTORIA, who was very impressive on her debut at the Curragh when beating Red Letter. She can improve on that run so I won’t be opposing her!
15:55 Ascot – Solomon
William Haggas holds the keys to this race with SOLOMON and Sam Hawkens. The money has come in for the former so I’ll side with him. He won at Haydock over 10f last time out and he can win again.
16:30 Ascot – New Image
Carrytheone will go well if he has a clear run but I like NEW IMAGE. He missed all of 2023 after having a couple of runs for Ger Lyons as a two-year-old. He’s run consistently this season and the round track will suit him. He’s drawn in stall two which will also be fine for him. He’ll be against the far-side rail, which will alleviate him hanging.
16:45 Haydock – Caernarfon (NAP)
I’m all over CAERNARFON. Just watch the Curragh race last time over 1m 1f where Sparks Fly set a really strong gallop and that allowed Royal Dress to swoop late on to win from American Sonja with Caernarfon a neck back in third. Dropping back to the mile trip will suit her too.
